Hi everyone! I don't have my violin yet but I'm already learning so much from this site (thanks so much Fiddlerman and ALL of you). I'm looking forward to my first squeaks, scratches and screechings and then I hope to hear at least a few good notes. My violin shouldcrossedfingerscrossedfingers be here sometime this week - can hardly wait...

Nice to meet you, LKR2338! There are lots of us here who are well-seasoned at life but just starting on the violin. Like Terry, I'm also a 50 year old who's been playing for less than a year.

This is the place to be as you start your violin journey. Everyone here is friendly and helpful, from Pierre (Fiddlerman) to the newest members.

cheers Welcome! coffee

Thanks Mad-Wed! I'm praying it will arrive undamaged and at least somewhat playable. A CVN 200 is all I could afford. I'm supposed to get it tomorrow - yippee!fainting-1344

welcome as well from the far left coast of the USA...

you're going to love it here... one big happy (most of the time) family.

I'm 58 and just started for serious this past January...never too late to start, it only means we have to work faster and longer cause we're almost out of time! LOLthumbs-up

That's wonderful! How are you playing now? BTW, since you mention where you're from, do you have any idea how I change my time zone? I attempted it but Houston, Texas (about 90 miles away) is not an option. As far as my accent, you all wouldthink I'm from uhm, Tennessee or Alabama or anywhere a severe southern accent is spoken. Even here in Texas, people just don't sound this way - lol.

Welcome to the forum, Linda. I'm sure you will like it here, there are plenty of people who share your excitement. There's a new venture everyday in learning to play the violin. Enjoy every minute of it.

You're never too old to love the squeak's and other weird sound's that will come out of it. 69 here and love every minute of it, well, almost.  smile

LOL Fiddlestix, I know exactly what you mean. Getting up stiff is no fun. The very worst is when I turn 1/8" and my back is knocked out. Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks Barry. I know I'm going to have fun.
