Now I have a violin and am starting to get a bit more involved on the forum I realise I haven't really introduced my self.

Hello, my name is Sam I live just outside of Oxford, England. I have a wife Rachel and an eight month old daughter Alice. I work as an IT systems admin, which is dull.

I have enjoyed many many types of music over the years but I have always had a thing for the violin and folk music, I find it haunting and it tugs at my soul.

I had planned to by a violin after Christmas with any money I could gather, however I have been lucky enough to be lent one on an as long as I need it basis. So I have decided to put all thoughts of purchases out of my mind until I can at least play twinkle twinkle to my own satisfaction. This could take years

When I was harbouring vague thoughts about self teaching this site gave me real hope that it could be done, thanks to all of you who have helped me so much already.
