Hi, I just joined, so I thought I'd pop in here and say hello.
I'm a mature learner - I started off aged 59 after taking early retirement from work. That was a year ago and I'm still enjoying it, so I must be doing something right!
I'm trying to follow a classical method (even though I'm teaching myself) as I think it's the best way to learn most instruments - I already play piano, flute and sax - but I'm also very into Irish folk fiddle, so I've been learning quite a bit of that as well.
Anyway nice to be here - it seems like a friendly place!
EDIT: probably should have mentioned that I'm in the UK - about 100 miles from the Scottish borders.

Hi @mischa91 - Just saw your post on here now!
Yes, Gateshead is just a few miles from here. I've already got a couple north east tunes on the go - I'm learning The Water of Tyne and When the Boat Comes In. Might also have a go at Blaydon Races. I'm hoping to play them on the traveller if it gets to the UK before I die/get too old and decrepit to play it.

The Blaydon races, how could I forget about such an amazing tune. I lived just up the hill from Blaydon and even took part in the Blaydon races when I was little! I'm going to have to get a copy of that tune now. I'm supposed to be getting the traveller soon, hopefully one day you can play a lovely northern song on it.
