Hello, my name is Teresa (Kittlebit). I am 55, married and live in Memphis, Tn. I am an RN and have worked in Labor and Delivery for 21 years now.
Started music in 80's with 2 years accordian lessons. Took 6 years piano. In August was at Family Reunion in Texas and a couple elderly guys entertained us with fiddling. I loved it so much and said "I can do that." Came back home and bought a fiddle with some little instruction books and it didn't take me long to realize it is not near as easy as they made it look. I now have an instructor and am having a blast with the fiddle.
I have enjoyed this website so much and it has been so helpful for me as a beginner voilinist. Thank you Fiddlerman!!

Kittlebit, Shalom and welcome, I am fairly new too. The site is just wonderful isn't it. There is so much to learn here and not just from FM, but everyone is helpful and friendly. No ego's or pretentious people, but fellow lovers of string music. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time it just crazy. Now, the challenge if I can put it all to practice and play more that Mary had a Little Lamb some day! We are very fortunate to have FM and all the Merry Men and Women, of his little band. Wait, wrong story. Ummmm? I was just thinking of the old comedy classic, Men in Tights. Sorry!
But any way welcome,
Shalom Shalom

Welcome Kittlebit! One thing I would suggest is go over the first position natural note scales from FM's videos over and over. Yep lots of great free lessons here.
Edit: Just saw BCShalom's post on Men in Tights...When you need a break and want to watch a funny movie, that RobinHood spoof is funny

No kidding! I thought I'd be knocking out tunes within an hour of opening the case, but there are so many variables involved in just trying to make a decent sound come out of a fiddle (or in my case - viola), that I'm still struggling a month later.
Welcome to the forums, Kittlebit!
