Hello, all.
I am a longtime guitar player (19 years) that has recently decided to take the plunge and teach himself the violin. I, like many others I would imagine, stumbled across Pierre and subsequently this forum thanks to YouTube. After considerable research and a little push from my lovely wife, I decided to take a chance on a used no label violin on Craigslist and started to learn. Two short weeks later, I have found myself here; with a new obsession, a thirst to learn and little to no interest in the guitar for the moment. I have already concluded that in the next few weeks I will be purchasing a Fiddlerman Concert outfit from Fiddlershop.com to get myself on a better instrument and continuing down the everlasting path to improvement. I look forward to getting involved in the community and apologize in advance for what I am sure will be countless questions wrought with ignorance. I am, however, excited at the possibilities that this instrument hold for me as I continue my musical journey.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I spent last night working on running through my Gmaj and Amaj scales. Also managed to restring my instrument last night and fiddled around (pun intended) with tuning to AEAE just for fun. Put about four hours worth of practice in last night. I am hoping sometime this weekend to get a good video made for some critique. Will probably be playing the same tired tunes that everyone knows (So far I know the simplified versions of: Camptown Races, Amazing Grace, and Ode to Joy), but I believe you all can give me some good feedback and suggest some improvements.

Welcome guy. Are you a Martin Barre fan.
Not so much actually; I just like the pun on my name. One of my friends took to calling me "Sethro Tull" way back when, and it just kinda stuck. I think it's funny. Musically, I have a pretty eclectic taste. I play lead guitar and vocals in a "sleaze rock" (that's just what we took to calling it) band that I started. Kinda has a hard rock/blues/punk/ 80's metal kinda vibe, depending on what day it is. Lately though, I have been listening to a ton of Avett Brothers and Old Crow Medicine Show and some Pink Floyd. Told you I was weird.....
