Hi everybody,
This is Daniel from Amsterdam. I played violin when I was 8 until about 12 (when it wasnt considered 'cool' anymore... _)
Picked it back up when I was a at university in my 20s, fun only.
Now in my late 40s I picked it back up during lockdown. I am loving the feeling of old muscle memory coming back to life. It also teaches me patience because it now seems even harder to get the right sound. I realized I only ever played short notes as my vibrato or even depth of playing longer notes was never really developed.
I now use all the good things tech has to offer so I can make the perfect supporting piano or any other instruments in my DAW. And play it with different speeds. This really improves the fun of playing a lot!
My first teacher was a very strict orchestra violinist who used to force me (physically) in the right playing position for 2 hrs a week. This kind of discipline of young children would not be tolerated today : )) This didn't stop my love for the violin. Thank God!
I work in healthcare btw.
Very nice meeting you all!
Dan
