Hi! My name is Matthew and I am 19. I've been learning the violin for around 6-7 years but was forced to quit when I entered college. I still hope to improve my playing, but it is difficult since I can only play on the weekends when I go home (I live in school dormitory with 0 sound proof walls). I am hoping to learn lots from all of you and "meet" you guys

Yea I tried using mutes... but they dampened the sound of my violin in a way that I found unacceptable.
Fiddlerman's youtube review of the cecilio silent violin was how I got to know about this forum. I have a very low budget though and even then I'd have to save up. Perhaps I should ask members for some advice

I'm not sure where you live m.k. I just find a local park or something like that where people don't complain. You mentioned that you were forced to quit. Don't ever quit what you love!
I live in Vancouver, Canada... It rains like 80% of the time from fall to spring lol (ok maybe not 80%... but you get the idea). And no I never quit playing even if its just for a few minutes on weekends when I teach and play for my church's worship team, but I can no longer take lessons haha.

No, no, your right Mk , I am in Seattle, Hello Neighbor, and it rains here constantly, I mean all the time. We have to wear waders or life vests to swim to the grocery store. Yup, bad place to move to. So if your thinking about moving to Seattle or BC, forget it, Its Miserable up here. Don't let em throw you into that ole briar patch, Brair Rabbit!!!
Seriously, we never see the sun.
Work with me MK, Work with me......

Haha.. Well despite the rainy weather, I still find Vancouver and Seattle to be some of the prettiest cities in the world (out of all the ones I've been to at least). And the temperature is just right during the summer
