The deadline for the 2023 Group Christmas Project submissions has now been extended to Monday the 11th of December.
New to the forum and excited to be here!
I am 5th generation (maybe more) violin player in my family. Violin is my 7th instrument. I started playing Alto Sax when I was 13 years old and I played through college and was in a successful jazz band. I also played French horn in my high school orchestra. From there, I tried every instrument I could get my hands on, and I could play just about everything so I started collecting instruments to play. My seven instruments are sax, French horn, flute, trumpet, Bandura, ukulele, and violin. I started playing violin when I turned 44 years old when my parents bought me a violin for Christmas. I was blessed to pick it up quickly. I only wish I had started on violin all those years ago...I just know I would have loved it my whole life. But, I sure do now and I enjoy every minute of it. My hope is to one day soon join our community orchestra which is excellent.
So happy to be on board with you all!!!
Many fiddlers enjoy playing Jazz & Blues - some very famous Jazz Violinists, too! Think you'll find it's a great instrument for this genre.
