Hi, I'm RP, I am new at playing violin. I know initials can be deceiving, but I'm female and around 40 years old, so I'm also a "late starter."
I've been playing for about a month from the time of this post. I must admit I haven't practiced every day of the month I've had my violin. I am also pretty bad at setting up structured practice sessions. Overall I'm just doing this for my own enjoyment. I enjoy playing and one day hope I stop sounding like I'm scraping a chalkboard with my fingernail under my chin at times.
The violin I got is a Cecilio CVN-100 package. I got it before I found FiddlerMan and this nice website. If I would have seen his YouTube Reviews I probably would have gotten a CVN-200. The 100 works as long as I don't plan on plucking any notes out on it. The particular violin I have just does NOT let me pluck out notes, but that could be I got a bad one, or I set it up wrong.
I know I have been posting prior to posting an introduction here. Sorry about that. Thank you FiddlerMan for the warm welcome, and Thank you to everyone else who has welcomed me, and given advise and helped me through some moments here so far.
I am just learning how to use Audicity, as soon as I figure out how to upload a music file, I will post my curent ability in playing. Just don't expect too much. Advise on things to improve would be welcome if that can be done just from audio. I don't have a good video camera/webcam/cellphone. I do have a little hand held "a sharper image" video camera, but I think I would need a tripod to see if I could record on that.
Best wishes and happy practicing to one and all!
On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

Nobody will expect TOO much =)) We all are here to help each other to improve our playing. Posting video is really helpful. Because sometimes when we play we don't realise what's going wrong.. I know that with FiddlerMan's help (and members help too =3) you will play violin with joy and improve fast! =))
