Hi!
My name is John Kujat and I'm 47 years old. I started playing violin in the 4th grade way back in 1974. I don't play at professional level but I'm good enough to play at my church (fgtonline.org).
This year, I've bought myself an electric violin. I have a Digitec Whammy pedal, ZOOM G1Next distortion pedal and a Wood Wah pedal. I'm learning all that gadgetry, too.
I'm interested in hand exercises. Arthiritis seems to be coming on and I wish to play my violin until I'm VERY old. Any ideas?

Welcome John. I can't wait to see what effects you have been playing with.
The kicker with arthritis is that it seems to flare up with constricting motions ie making a fist or fingering an instrument. I can recommend some options that might make it easier to play though.
Or if you know an occupational therapist they will have the best knowledge on how to keep your joints for as long as possible.

Hiya!!!!
I am Acana Chin and I'm 28 years old. I started violin a little bit late like now at the age of 28, I hope I am not too late. Just started this month with the twinkle twinkle variation. I hope I can finish the Suzuki Book 1 less than 6 months.
I am very impress when I see people can play very fast like faster than a light...

Hi John, and welcome.
I'm not sure what the answer is for arthritis, I wish I knew. But some of my elderly patients have told me that they use WD40 on their seized knees and fingers with good results. I won't endorse this treatment medically, but just quietly I've tried it on my left thumb and I felt the joint worked much more freely for hours after the tiny spray I gave it. (Try not to spill it on your violin.)
Please don't tell your doctor I recommended this, I will deny all knowledge and self-destruct in 60 seconds.
Can't wait to see your video, I hope you get plenty of joy from this site, as we all have.
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

ROFL Robyn! and welcome Kujo313! Sorry I don't have any advise for arthritis.
Welcome as well acana83 It's never too late to start learning an instrument in my opinion. Great goal you set for yourself too.
On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.
