Hornpipes are just so much fun to play. Still couldn't get a good recording so there are a few places I drug out to remember where I was.
Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

@Georganne - well, I thanked you above, and a day later, I'm just plain annoyed ( j/k ) - I CANNOT get that darned tune out of my head !!!! I went to sleep hearing it, I awoke hearing it, darned earworm.... LOL - looks like I'm gonna have to go learn it, no other answer... it just won't go away !!!! Grrrrrr......

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

@Uzi - thank you ! I looked down the list and hauled them into an ABC player - I like the Paddy Killoran one in the comments area. It's a double-purpose thing - firstly I like the tune a lot, and I can also see it will give me some practice with the rhythm for songs such as these ! It's my weekend project ! LOL

@Georganne - see what you've started ! It looks like another party ! Yayyyy ! and @Jim Dunleavy - I found this quite "extensive" tuition video by "FiddleHed" on you tube - not just the tune itself, but some reasonable tips on bowing and "swing" notes -

@Jim Dunleavy ( and apologies to the OP - @Georganne - I didn't want to start a new thread - my comments are "related" to your original post )
Yup - it's just about 4 hours later - and - I've "more or less" got it... the actual tune is not in itself difficult ( initial-playing fluffed notes aside - well, you know what I mean ) - but the issue for me is "getting the rhythm" .... I'll be working on it ! LOL -
I've messed with only one other hornpipe before (Sailor's Hornpipe) - and as such - and I still don't really "completely get" the idea of the hornpipe - some seem to be actually "slow-ish" / rapid walking pace - some seem to be fast and furious - and their rhythms APPEAR to be quite different.... ???? ... maybe it's how I hear them in my head... I just don't know... Still got a lot to learn here...
And there also seems to be a lot of "discussion" about what "makes" a hornpipe... but frankly - I don't care - if it sounds good - call it what you want and let's play it - who CARES !!!!! What a journey of discovery !
Anyway - back to Sailors Hornpipe - the one I've "kind of" played" - we folks here in the UK really appreciate how they do that on the "Last Night of the Proms" and have such great fun with it - ( well, not played every year, but it is fairly commonly used in the Proms "Last Night" finale - it is simply "making music FUN for everyone" ) - and I understand that purists won't think much of it, and that's OK - but all the days leading up to that have been perfection itself - the conductor and orchestra are "letting-off-steam" - as well as the audience - so here's one of them - - weyyyy heyyyy - Proud To Be A Brit !!!! LOL
And - just for the Brits here - here is this year's schedule on the great BBC - http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/r8.....2015-09-06 - a LOT of GREAT MUSIC out there....
[ Sorry OP - not a thread hijack in any way - it was YOUR inspiration that brought this about, it is appreciated - maybe I should kick-off a specific hornpipe party-thread, for those who can, and those who are trying... aye, I'll do that]

All good!

@Georganne - yup - been working on it- but "real work" kind of got in the way - here's a very quick "unrehearsed" version with the A and B parts played only one each - I was setting up the kit for a quick SJ perfomance to support Frankie's Jellypalooza day so I just crammed this in first - in fact I'm on in 5 mins... I'll speak more about it later - feature=youtu.be - and thanks again for introducing me to this tune !
And Jim - go for it !
