Forgive me, think I'm still coming to grips with the whole 'pulse' thing - and it's probably because I think of 'pulse' as the stressed beats in a rhythm... and bowing that accentuates THAT. The multiple notes on an up-bow thing can be different (to me) - depending on if they are all emphasized the same, or not.
I hear both your A's as staccato, both played the same way (great, but even) - so, if you hadn't said something, I can't really tell you didn't play separate bow strokes.
THEN... I realized it's NOT about the A's themselves (hope I'm not jumping out on a limb here)! I think you found a great way to set yourself up to emphasize the syncopation on the note that follows! 🤗 I hear THAT!
It didn't fully hit me until I listened to (& slowed down) a recording of Gordon Duncan playing the tune himself, that I realized the extent of the syncopation other folks I watched (doing normal bowing) were MISSING!
Anyway, YOU sounded GREAT - you make me feel the syncopation - I LOVE IT!
Thank you for sharing this... if I'd only listened to the audio on The Session, I would've missed out knowing how impressive this tune is!

Thank you both for the kind comments and positive feedback. When futzing with the tune, tried playing the A’s as Up/Down, compared to Up/Up. Just preferred it better. Emily, I agree with you and like your thought process, difficult to put a finger on it but syncopation might be a good description.
Gordon Duncan also did one of my favorite tunes, called ‘Jock Broons 70th’ (https://thesession.org/tunes/10023). Don’t know if your familiar with it. A fantastic rendition is here, think Anna plays it with such groove!

Really hope you will share your complete version of the "Pressed For Time" reel when you get done working on it!
Jock Broon's 70th is a Cool tune! Thanks for bringing it up (hadn't heard it before)!
I do love Anna Ludlow's playing - she exudes confidence! Keep hoping to find something recent from her (haven't seen anything since her last album (2019)!
