I think special effects on the CELLO (and Viola) are SO COOL! 

Whether left hand or extended bowing techniques, the Cello seems to be the most versatile string instrument (especially 5-string cellos). 

Anyway, found the 'moderncellist' YT site - full of fun exercise & tutorial videos for special sound & bowing techniques on CELLO! 

...and I know there are other similar sites out there to explore!
