My original goal for the year was to play some nice tunes next Christmas, as I started learning right after this Christmas, and I'd still like to do this.

However...

I've just had the wonderful news that my Dad is getting remarried, and while it's only going to be a small registry office thing, I'd LOVE to play something at the wedding.

Can anyone recommend anything I'd be able to learn by August, taking into account that I'm a beginner and am currently practicing the 'Notes on the D string' content after great improvement was made on 'Notes on the G string'. Is the Wedding March feasible?

P.S Dad doesn't know I'm learning the violin yet, would be even better if I can keep the secret until then hehe

I think you can learn, "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", and we can guide and help you. smile

Thank you! :)

Do you have the sheet music? I'll keep working on it while I'm doing general practice  I usually start by practicing keeping a straight bow and a steady sound, then move onto the first two scales, then practice whatever song I'm working on....currently thats only 'Lightly Row' haha

Edit: Found the sheet music in your beginners section :) slightly confusing but I've got months to learn :)
