OK so far I can do a semi recognizable "lavenders Blue"

And I can now do a fairly decent first 15 bar's of Ode to Joy...

Now the question I still cant really read sheet music, so I have to study the noes on the paper, write the A, B, C C#.... below learn where each finger goes and say the name of the note as I play it...

 

Am I making problems for myself, or would you say this is acceptable for now whilst still very new? Obviously I'm still developing the muscle memory that goes with playing.

thats how I did it.  saying the note BEFORE you play it.  writing names of notes out below or above helpful too at 1st.
