I ran across this little goodie on youtube:

It's about 5 min long, so it makes a nice little workout if the metronome is boring you.

Very cool Dan.. wish I was at home with the violin to get my "timing" on.  I like the option.  I will try it for my open bowing / timing practice. Thank you!

very interesting. According to my musical aptitude and ability to retain the beat for that duration, I am glad it wasn't scored. clockviolin-student

I think if we were given a rating at the point of our failure to be "exactly" on time, I believe it would have told me to send my violin back and order a lawn mower. wink

I'm going to try it again tonight after an adult beverage or 2 has been consumed. If I still can't stay on beat for its entirety, at least I'll enjoy it more.  cheers

Well, I know the tempo / beat continues at the same rate, but with my hearing not being what it used to be, I couldn't detect the "snare" once it started. I suppose it would be like tapping your foot (wearing shoes) on a hard surface then taking them off and tapping your foot on carpet.

My take on that.drummer

Interesting test. The instructions could have been a little better though. I just kept beating my foot and predicted when the beat would come. Was pretty close but not 100% :)

I think it would have been a bit better if it had brought back the full rhythm at the end.  Just for a measure or two, so one could tell how well one had done.

I thought it was a pretty nifty idea, though.
