Hello All. I am new here. I am a 37 year old male from TN and just starting with the violin. I purchased a $200 cremona starter violin from my local music shop. I plan on getting a better one soon.

This is a nice site, I am slowly going through all the videos, Thanks Fiddlerman.

My question is to find out if any of you know about this music software that I seen on youtube. It really helps me learn to read music and play a little at the same time. The video is here:

It teaches "happy birthday" It simultaneously shows you where and what the note is as the song is playing.

I have talked and set up appointment with a local instructor. So plan on taking a few lessons from a real teacher once a month or so, but I seem to be learning pretty well on my on from watching videos. Also I have 4 hours per day for practice.

Have a good day, thanks!

I was not able to open that link, but if you go to youtube and search for UL-8R0hnVj4 , you can see the video.  Just about anybody who is seriously trying can learn to read music when there are demos like this.

Glad to have you here, scotty.

Interesting idea :-) and scotty, you are blessed to have 4 hours to practice every day.

Thanks for the post
