Blurred video on sides of vertical narrow videos
I really dislike that format of blurred vertical strips of video on the sides of portrait oriented narrow videos

Is anyone else tired of that fad of filling in the sides of narrow vertical video with those blurred strips? I am. I find it so difficult to pay attention to the main strip up the middle.

Why does everyone have to copy a stupid idea and create a new standard? Now all our local news channels are doing that. I really really really dislike it.

Now, for you techies, I do not have a need for the know how’s. I just know it is not necessary. Those sides were not filled in before. It was much easier to watch the narrow videos without those blurred sides “framing” it. I pray for the day that fad is seen with clear eyes and just stopped.

I have enough of a hard time getting rid of blurred vision. @Fiddlerman, please do not start doing yours or Michaels videos that way.

Me too @Mouse - good grumble there, bugs the heck out of me.

I've tried rotating my widescreen smart-TV 90 degrees, but it's not "smart enough" to adapt. [ ummm, that was a joke BTW rofl]

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Yup it's really annoying. In all the movie editors I've used that's standard for vertical videos, so that's what you get unless you select a background colour. Lazy editing work is my guess for most of 'em.

I've never like that.  I hope it goes away some day.

I do hope they put funny filters on, especially politicians.  Give them goofy hats, or dog snouts!  That would be way more entertaining!

ROFL @AndrewH - nice find....  awesome....  without getting into the current political situation in the UK, I'm pretty certain some of that would go down a hoot with most of the public here, whichever party they follow !!!!!

EDIT: Particularly liked the comment in the post "Unfortunately for Mr Yousafzai, the cat was already out of the bag." roflroflroflrofl
