Our dear Forum family member, JohnG, passed away last January.  I’m starting a party in his memory.

JohnG practiced a lot of tunes, and was diligent in updating his progress with them in his blog.  I’ve compiled a list (attached) of all the tunes contained in his blog that he practiced and/or recorded.  I think I’ve got them all, but if I missed something, let me know smile

Rules: For this party, pick one of the tunes on JohnG’s tune list (you do not need to play his specific version of the selected tune).

 JohnG’s Blog:

https://fiddlerman.com/forum/f.....ing-world/

JohnG Memoriam thread:

https://fiddlerman.com/forum/m.....aka-johng/

To start the party off, I’ve chosen #73 on the list—Nearer My God to Thee.

Beautifully played @SharonC and a wonderful way to memorialize JohnG. Really miss him here on the forum.

Wow, so many great songs to choose from. Going to have to give this one some thought.

This is one from John's playlist. Ashokan Farewell (Duet)

Once again, my video editing is bad and my playing is even worse.

Watch it quick - it will be gone soon. It sounds best if you set your volume control to "off."  laugh

Loved it, really nice smooth playing, great tone as well, love these duet ones that people do, you and Sharon should do a quartet between the two of you, love her stuff as well.

Much 👏

Thank you everyone for the kind words. Things usually go so well for me until I see the recording light come on - and then I sound like I just started the violin a month ago!

I guess I should have worked on this one a little more, but I wanted to join the party.

This is a great way to honor JohnG, and thank you @SharonC for starting it. I hope more people join in to keep this going for a while. I hope to make another one soon if I can get my recording nerves under control.

That was great. @ABitRusty! I printed off a couple of the songs a few hours ago. Might be a while. I have to figure which one I can actually, hopefully with the viola.
