@ABitRusty -

LOV'N it!

So, what are the ground rules?

Do I need to play it like I'm playing with you - or can I record it playing like I normally do?

Got a few of the Grandkids until tomorrow nite, though - stinky diaper just walked in here... got to go!

Thats great playing greg, I will learn this one this week on the fiddle and post if I can, have to change my style a bit from banjo, which is difficult when you have the tune locked in your Noggin, didnt realise you were as good as you are, not heard that many tunes from you apart from cooleys and I was impressed with that one.

Great playing, guys! thumbs-up

I’m not much of a fiddler, but hey, it’s a party—so here’s my go at it.

not a fiddler?  sounded great to me and I liked that it was slightly different in the melody which shows how the same tune can be played by another fiddler with a little variation.  I liked how you played the one part a little higher.  also liked the backing you put with it especially the bodhran!  cool stuff and thanks for joining in and sharing!!  appreciate it.

@stringy i didnt hear any bad notes and you sound and look relaxed.  i mean did you hear that A# i had at about :23 or so!? lol...we're learning.  good place to share.. .i thought you were spot on with the notes and relaxed.  did you keep hearing the banjo version I know you said something about that.  after i watched your banjo post i tried to get some of the tripletts you were playing on my tenor banjo.   thats something ive never been able to get down.  that and tremelo on mandolin.  juat cant get the wrist to loosen up.  as youve probably figured out..fiddle takes all the time now.. :)   great job and thanks again. I enjoyed watching.

Too kind as always greg, I didnt hear the a sharp you mentioned. I think with my own playing at least that I hear things now that I wouldnt have noticed before. I am working on Humours of whiskey at the moment same page in O neils as fiddlers heaven, and after that the priests leap, these tunes are easy too pick up but difficult to ornament.

Dont know if you have ever heard Gerry o connor, he does a tutorial on youtube about triplets, the secret is though to hold the pick so loose you almost drop it, I also took the wrist rest off my banjo. Funny you mention mando, was just looking at mine tonight and thinking of geting some new strings for it.. I did keep hearing the banjo version by the way. I find it extremely hard if I already know a tune to change it, I was going to post the banshee in a blues jazz style so that it would have to be different🦻

Ive not heard or at least dont recall Gerry O Conner and I hope thats not like saying who's Earl Scruggs..lol..if so have a laugh on me..hehe..thanks for the tip.  Ill check him out..  Hey I like the humours of whiskey!  I need to practice that and add to the list.  Need to practice more slip jigs for sure.  Have you heard scatter the mud?  its another Ive got on the short list to try and memorize soon.  Bly's or Darby the Driver as Ive seen it called on youtube is another good jig thats sorta like lilting banshee.  I found a vdeo by a user on youtube joshuarex.rocks that plays humours i liked and was going to share but figured you could just look at when you want and see if its close to your version.

GregW,

Thanks--got the backing at this website; has a bunch of different rhythms/tempos:

I've attached 2 versions of the piece from The Sessions website.

Also, if you're looking to use a rhythm backing, I've copied the rhythm from the above listed website, & modified it to fit the 32 measures (as written on these Session versions, with repeats) if you want to use some rhythm.  I used the 90 bpm, but I've got it for the 70, 80, & 100 as well.

Ok, I found a version. it is violin, and I did play it on my violin, but am working on a cello version.

I try to add some of the techniques I learned when I took lessons, so I am changing it up a bit, Will get it smoothed out and post it, hopefully, within a week played on my cello.
