Thanks for listening mouse, very shortly I will be getting a looper pedal, and a bodhran, so will be creating rhythm on the drum and then playing the fiddle along with it. I learned the Bodhran many years ago, but stopped playing when one night I stood on it while I was a bit merry, and couldn't afford another one that was about 7 years gone, and I will have to wait for neighbours to go out, but can't wait, Bodhran is great fun.
Just changed the strings on my fiddle as well, and I also changed the chin rest and put the new one higher, extremely comfortable to play now, and also a lot easier to hear the ringing tones.

Thanks Mark, hope you will join in on this.
Mouse, great choice and playing really pleased you joined. Can't get more spring like .
Abitrusty thanks for the comment and taking a look, hope you are going to join in, with one of your excellent vids, but if you can't get the time for a vid just playing would be great.
WtW anything with a plant in the lyrics or title would be bob on, hope you join in and make it a great party. There must be a hundred variations of this one, as you say its an Irish trait I think. Only tune I ever heard that doesn't vary much is the Kesh jig, but it's also the best known as well, it's even on the Irish tourist advert:)
The well below the valley would be a good tune.

The ultimate spring tune is, Jack in the green by Jethro Tull, maybe fiddlerman himself, the maestro would play it and join the party, I really would love to hear that, the Jack's in the green, (there are more than one) summon the plants to wake and start to grow, in England anyway.
Fiddlerman, could then wear a long green velvet gown, he would look spectacular:)
I love this time of year, when the big dark has finished and everything is growing, I would like this to be the biggest party ever, don't care how bad or good the tunes are I would love everyone to join in.
And post as many tunes as you can, if you think of a new one post that as well.

@Mouse -
Nice tune!
Haven't heard that one!
@stringy -
Glad you started another Party with your cheerful Maggie in the Wood!
We shouldn't give up just cause new folks haven't been participating, yet. These Parties are THE BEST PLACE to help folks get over recording fears!
I do want to start recording video again... just started practicing a few Spring Flower tunes! I'm not keen on recording & sharing just audio, for several reasons, and to be honest, I enjoy test-playing a lot of tunes I then get caught up experimenting on (or abandon).
Your idea of playing Jethro Tull's "Jack-in-the-Green" on VIOLIN is really interesting! There's not very many notes - a little flute riff & basically a simple 2-line melody sung. The syncopated timing is important (Tull's style of rhythm) - and I tried to pick up the guitar strumming pattern to use for 'strum-bowing', but it's going to take me more time than I spent this evening to get it engrained (not something I usually practice).
I think YOU should try it - especially with your experience on other instruments! These are the 2 videos I found helpful: Andrew Tisbert's Cover (clean) - to hear the notes and melody rhythm & Jose Hernandez's Guitar - for closer look at the strumming pattern & where he places accents.
Hope folks will look at the top of the forum page at "Sheet Music" - the Free Sheet Music Links is a great resource for notation of different music styles/genres! Just search for your favorite 'Spring Flower', 'Spring', 'Woodland', etc... practice a little, then JOIN THE PARTY!

Thanks for the input Emiy, hope you get something together for this party.
My idea of Fiddlerman doing Jack in the green is because he is like the Jack in the green inasmuch as he started this forum, and is the best violin player on here, I have another two I am working on already, myself, and a couple more in mind but am waiting to see what everyone else puts on first. May give Jack in the green a try on electric to see what it sounds like, but don't know yet, I have a looper pedal now so could record a guitar rhythm with it.

Here's another to keep it rolling learned this one this afternoon, with a new style of bowing for me, which I got from Kevin Burkes teaching vids, so forgive the roughness, it's called the Glen's of Mayo
