@ABitRusty Thank you! My vibrato is working best with my 3rd finger right now (the high note)--just got to get all the rest of the fingers working the same way!
@JimandThomas Thank you! Yes, I go into 3rd position in the first part of the Violin 1 part (top video). I know your learning 3rd position, so I've attached a version of what I played with the 3rd position fingerings put in.

Sharon that was amazing .. definitely showing how it should be played. Really liked the tempo too. Did you have to practice that or did you just do it ?
Thanks Emily lovely poem too! And thanks Abitrusty, Mark, Thomas and for the feedback Stringy. I think this is one I’ll carry on with it’s a bit less serious !
@Mark @ELCBK @Katie L Thank you!
Emily, not sure what happened with the volume--I've edited my post with an updated version. One of the settings in the new software was different--learning curve for me, I guess.
Katie, I definitely had to practice it. This & Beautiful Dreamer I've played with my teacher--first played them a few years ago; took them back out at the beginning of the year to work on vibrato. I modified the violin 2 part some for this recording.

Well, you inspired him @SharonC to give Danny Boy a shot in third position. But after several tries, it just was a tad too difficult. So he stayed in first position. My new camera makes it sound so tinny so I have to figure that one out. In the meantime, he got home today and picked up the music for the first time. Not bad for a little less than an hour and a half practice.

That's excellent, @JimandThomas ! The tune plays just fine in 1st position. I just used 3rd to help myself play with my developing vibrato (in this tune, I can play a better vibrato on some notes in 3rd position than in 1st).
Don’t worry about 3rd position—you’ll get it soon enough

Meant to say sharon, in the post I deleted cooleys, that I mentioned, I had said I thought your duet was brilliant, forgot that my comment would be deleted, as well as the vid.
I am putting the violin on the back burner for a while now, as I did some recording tonight with guitars and found my playing has gone terrible, havent really played in the last couple of years I have been trying to learn fiddle, came as quite a shock to be honest, so I will be doing a couple of years back on guitars I think.
I get a lot of pleasure from singing, more than fiddle actually but unfortunately recording without guitars isnt great, and not only that, that type of thing doesnt really belong on this forum, I mentioned I have taught guitar for forty years but got hold of it tonight for the first time in a couple and struggled.

@JimandThomas -
Great playing, Thomas!
Excellent, getting Danny Boy down so quickly!
This is an old traditional tune, known as "Londonderry Air" - "Air" being a slow tune.
Later, the popular lyrics were written and added - have you read them?
It's a very, very sad love song - which can make a huge difference if you feel that while you are playing.
You did pretty darn well expressing this tune!
Thank you, for making this such a GREAT PARTY!
AND, Best of Luck on your upcoming Concert!
...I'm trying to turn my new Viola into a fiddle, so we'll see what happens. 🤪

I think this is a fun reel and not to bad to get started with as far as playing reels.
This is another new one for me. Most of these jigs lately and New mown Meadow are ones Im happy Ive been able to memorize in the last month or so. Seems like its getting easier to commit to memory. I need to work on intonation here on the G string especially. Lots of arpeggio work in this one. Its a good one!
