No jig for me today. Today would have been our mother's 100th birthday. So, in honor of that and the debut for Maureen (my new viola), here is When Irish Eyes Are Shining. Happy St Patrick's Day to all.

Emily thanks for sharing your set, great stuff.

John really enjoyed your tune and a great tribute. I am sure your mother would be very proud.

Mark that was a truly beautiful rendition, I have never heard that tune before.

@stringy -

Thank you - appreciate you watched!

Had learned Morrison over a year ago, felt like learning it all over, again - just tried Butterfly & Swallowtail.

@ABitRusty -

Thank You for watching!

Yeah, I know... I'd been pretty embarrassed if I hadn't tried something, but I'm still having a hard time with the string spacing on Edgar, maybe the high arch of the bridge, too - just starting to get used to it.

Wow, I was not only late adding to this party, but also in acknowledging all the great tunes people posted.

@Katie L - That was really good, and loved your smile at the end!

@SharonC - Even better than usual (which is always great). Loved the duet.

@JimandThomas - Great Danny Boy, I wish I had your dexterity!

@stringy - Love that medley and mostly Slan la Maigh. You done good!

@ABitRusty - Both Sally Gardens Reel and Lad O Beirnes Jig were really good and I especially liked the Sally Gardens tune.

@Jim Dunleavy - Morrison's Jig is a catchy tune and you caught it! Nice!

@Fiddlerman - You guys know how to not only sell those instruments, but how to play and enjoy them as well. Fun set!

@stringy - Haven't heard the Kesh jig before, but I really enjoyed your performance!

@ELCBK - That medley was great, and your playing really showcased your skill and instrument!

@Mark - Hector the Hero is also new to me, and I think you did a great job with it!

BEAUTIFUL!

You've really turned "Hector The Hero" into something special!

🤔... you don't have few of the 'wee folk' working magic for you, do you?

Enjoyed listening!

Thanks for bringing this to the Party!

@JohnG -

Thank you for watching my video!

Hope I can get Edgar to sound as good as Maureen!

Here's some last minute fooling around with Edgar.

...sorry, few places I forgot what I was doing. 🤭

Tunes, in order:

Beginning & ending was inspired by something, but can't remember what. 🤪

1. "Cad é sin don té sin" (known to me as, "None of Your Concern"🤣, I can never remember Gaelic titles).

2. "Lilting Banshee" - also recorded in an earlier Party.

3. "Lisdoonvarna"

4. "Coleraine"

5. "The Old Copper Plate" - off to La La Land in a couple places. (lol)

6. "Trip to Sligo" (not the tar road).

7. "Cooley's" - messed this up a little, had recorded for an earlier Party, too.

@JimandThomas -

Congratulations on earning your PARTY BADGE!

@ELCBK - Thanks, Emily! Your kind words are appreciated. As for my mother, I like to think so. She loved music, and played the piano for many functions at my brother's and sisters' grade school, in addition to singing in the church choir and a community chorus.

@ABitRusty -

Thanks!

Appreciate the suggestions!

Feel really bad that I messed up The Old Copper Plate, because I was thinking of you - just haven't played any of these in quite a while (messed up Cooley's, too) - kinda forgot what I was doing in both of them!

...couldn't even blame the cats. (lol)

All tunes learned ages ago & didn't want to forget, but I'd really like to take some time to spruce them up a bit (ah, the disadvantage of learning too many).😔

I went back and edited my video post to include playlist.

@JohnG & @Mark -

Thank you so much!

I'm very grateful you watched!

Edgar and I are still struggling, but had to give these a go!
My versions of Morrison's, The Butterfly & The Swallowtail

I'm impressed, Emily, you've got an excellent sense of rhythm (especially with the ornamentation in there) and good intonation. You were bed-ridden a while ago, are you OK now, or is that you sitting up temporarily?

@Gordon Shumway -

Thank you VERY much - I truly appreciate that you watched! 🤗

The distance between Edgar's strings AND the height differences (top edge of my bridge is more arched), they're much different than my violin.

That's why I'm struggling with playing Edgar like a fiddle.

Been working on keeping closer to the frog for fast passages.

I shouldn't complain - only had Edgar for barely a month & a half... I'll get used to him.

I thought Edgar was your husband!embarassed

Anyway, I must go and tune and polish Beelzebub before taking her off to orchestra in an hour's time.

(I was coughing and sneezing a lot last week, but the lateral flow test was negative and I've been hitting the vitamin C hard)
