Extending this from a facebook challenge some of us gave each other.
It's simple... do your best to practice for 100 days straight. If you miss a day, just pick back up where you left off. Can't play for some reason? Do mental practice
Share your goals, and progress in this thread
This will personally be my Day 15 (started on 1/8 and missed a day in there somewhere). I've been keeping track of my practice on Instagram each day, along with noting on a practice log.
So who's in? Start when you can

Yea I think I missed a total of.. 2 days maybe. However I don't usually call them 'practice'.. more like having the violin out and grabbing it every time I walk past it and have nothing better to do... then trying to play something for fun
Anyways.. count me in.. though I was always a chaotic planner.. so not sure about them plans and goals.. Kinda feel like the Joker in those new Batman movies lol... 'Do I look like a guy with a plan? :O I'm a dog chasing cars.. wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it...' or something like that.. hahaha.

Haha, I'm the same way, I have a hard time making and sticking to a goal. I'm too easily distracted. This is helping, making me keep an eye on the bigger picture. I still stray, but I get on track a little better now

Similarly, this has been great for me because it's making me think about longer-term goals. I'm normally super-methodical about single practice sessions or even practicing over a week or two, but I've rarely ever set practice goals beyond the next concert. I think I've only done it once before in my life, when I spent 8 months preparing to audition for the semi-professional orchestra I now play in.

I also joined the Facebook challenge but it has grown pretty large. I've so far done every day since 1/9 when I started. Granted many days have only been 15 minutes, but considering how often I have been playing this is a HUGH improvement. I must thank this community as my biggest fan and appreciate all the encouragement and feedback. Can't wait for the next group project, but as part of my 100 day goal is to record and submit all three viola parts to fiddlerman. Thanks

Well, I am on lesson 24 of the first Muller Rusch book (the discovery of playing with the left pinkie) so I am very confident that I will finish the book before the 100 days are up. I have already purchase the other two books in the series so I am good to go in that regard.
Something that I am doing may be of benefit to others. I have a tenor guitar that I have tuned to GDAE and play each lesson on the guitar before I play it on the violin. In that way, I have some idea of the correct intonation of what the lesson should sound like when I transfer to the violin. A side benefit of learning the violin is that I never got beyond "cheating" with tabs while learning the tenor guitar. Now I read notes on the staff easily and can transfer the information on the finger board. Obviously, an inexpensive mandolin would work just as well.
I would be happy to take part.

@Ripton I couldn't keep up with the group anymore. It was like a full time job reading all the posts, haha. Happy so many people wanted to take the challenge, though
Awesome Looking forward to hearing everyone's progress

Yay
I had to look up how many days it's been since I got my fiddle, since I rarely miss a day (I have when my hands were too achy or numb to play), and it was 914 days ago (if the website I used wasn't lying, haha).

I have 36 days - I've now got the suzuki books (on book 1) and play along. I was shocked and embarrassed that I couldn't even play twinkle twinkle to their speed, but finding that it is amazing how repeated practice does make a difference and am committing to not moving on until I can play along to each song, at their speed. If its late and the whole fam is asleep I just go through the finger placements on the strings...oooo kind of inspiring to read earlier posts and try and catch up with all of you!

I find it funny when I come back way later to the same play along recordings and they suddenly feel so slow, and I'm like "wait, this felt so fast before and I couldn't keep up for the life of me" hahaha. It is a fun way to see our progress

I found this
http://jayandmolly.com/fiddler-magazine/
some pretty music, you can download the sheet music, and even tho the violin is on them its nice to try and play along with them.
Plus, I bought the G SCHIRMER instrumental library, violin part, Beginner one, has the music and play along cds - its a little challenging for me but working up to it, has violin and also just music.

I am in the challenge!!! I missed 7 out of 17 days. I am not happy with that... so my official start over date was 1/23.... and I am on a roll.
I am working on Clair De Lune (easy version) and The Lover's Waltz, and Coming Through the Rye (Outlander version)
Happy Practice all.
