I was learning to play this song and stopped awhile ago. I forgot the name of it. It's too famous for me to forget, but I did. :(

(I don't care about the second song they play.)

I reckon that it is Jerusalem Ridge violin-student

You sure picked a difficult one.

Too difficult for me to even think about learning at this stage @Hman

Here is another version

Your welcome mate.

It 'is' a nice tune. I'd like to see a video if you manage to get it under control thumbs-up

@Ferret I would but I don't have a camera. :( Which is funny because I have a crazy computer with triple monitors and the whole nine yards, but I've never needed a camera for anything. Maybe it's about that time...

@Fiddlerman Yea, it's a sweet piece. I really enjoy it. I'm still on the Irish songs and have a bunch I like to play. But I find random folk/bluegrass songs that I really enjoy. Here's my newest song I've almost got under my belt: Banish Misfortune.

Love it. Nice playing. Wish I played that well.

Is one of those a viola or just a deeper sounding violin?

Same instrument. Two fiddles/violins. The girl has a nice "chop" going that may give your the impression of a lower instrument.

Fishnrods, funny you should post that video as I watch it pretty often when I'm looking for inspiration.

Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

I LOVE Jerusalem Ridge. I think it's my favorite fiddle tune and I'd love to be able to play it someday on either the fiddle or the mandolin. Annie Staninec does a nice job with it. Mark O'Connor also does a great version of JR, and here's a nice rendition, too, by the Turkey Creek String Band:

By the way, I recently won three Skype fiddle lessons with Annie in a contest run by The Slipper shoulder rest maker and fiddlerman.com member Fred T. @ftufc on Facebook. Really looking forward to it.

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

@KindaScratchy Yea, I love that version of JR as well. I watch it all the time. I just love watching Annie so much though. She has the best form/technique and I want to emulate her so badly.

I am more than jealous that you get to have a few lessons with her. I'm going to go sulk now. :(
