Halloween is just a little ways off and I was wondering if anyone has performed in costume(I know Fiddlerman has at least once in a mask :p). I'm wondering because there's a Renaissance festival I was considering doing a little playing at in costume, which would include a mask, gloves, and cape. I'm going to try to practice while dressed up to see what it's like. If anyone has tips, though, I'm happy to hear them!

Reasonably sure you'll have to either take the left hand glove off, or cut off the fingertips to play. Gloves won't let you get a clean press of the string. (Couldn't hurt to try it with the glove, but that's what I'd expect.)
Don't play on stilts.

My only experience playing in costume is in these Fiddlerman group projects.

You definitely have to consider and test how your costume will work physically while playing the violin. If any part of it will interfere with your motion or hold on the instrument or bow, then you'll have to make some modifications.
But, as you'll see in those videos, a lot is possible costume-wise while playing violin.
When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,
I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Oh, well, now I have to play on stilts :p
Actually, I have seen videos of where people play with gloves on, but I don't trust my left hand that much. My main thought is the mask, but it should be okay. Honestly, when I was going to play in orchestra, I wondered how well I would do with a tux on since I've only played in t-shirts haha
@KindaScratchy those are some of my favorite group project videos, the costumes are great!

Years back, my buddy was at our house and had gloves on. I handed him an instrument and he started playing on it. It was a joke, supposed to be funny but I recorded him and posted it. Funny enough, lot's of people must have thought that we were serious because it has a lot of thumbs down. LOL
