Good evening everyone!

I would love to share with you another milestone, my first year anniversary.

Time went by fast and it's been a year since I started learning violin. There were some hard times and I thought I would not be able to make it. But there is this wonderful site with FM/Pierre dedication and with all of you members who were always there to encourage and share with me, I made it through.

A quick look back as it might be helpful to other members, I spent my first 6 months learning the basics, building a foundation for later advance learning, 3 months to put all of those into real tune application and the last 3 months for intonation and bowing. I still have lots of problems with intonation and bowing control and am working hard to improve them, but they could take a few years to get better so everything is positive.

Learning violin gives me comfort and as meditation helping me going through my hard times. It also, with this forum members sharing, introduced me to some of music cultures and tunes that I've never heard of or known before and it's so wonderful. I will try to post some audio/video of some tunes (even my playing is not good yet, but those are what I ran across) as introduction/sharing to members who might not know them and may be interested in learning as I was introduced to some of them.

For my self evaluation, I think I'm ahead of my plan (thanks to all of you) as I've never thought that my violin could sound that beautiful one year ago holding it initially. It will definitely take lot of practice and learning, but it's rewarding.

Thank you everyone for making this possible. I greatly appreciate all of your encouragement, sharing, tutoring, especially great thanks to Pierre for all of his tutoring, advise and his provision of this site.

I guess you all will allow me to continue to my second year learning, with more fun and enjoyment, will you?

Thanks all, again.

Robert

Oh what a nice post.  Thank you for journaling your experience.  You have had a great year of violin.  I am so very  happy to read your story of your first year.  I know your struggles are on going and you play despite issues. I send hugshats_off and vibes for your year anniversary. Cheers, and Happy Playing.

Thank you for all of your assistance in my year, it is always a pleasure.

Hi @ratvn

Hitting your 1year mark is great isn't it. When you start it's all screeches and horlbble sounds, but after some time and lots of hard work it starts to come together.

How about posting a 1 year video thumbs-up

Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of dunno ..... What was I saying???? facepalm

Congratulations Robert. I enjoyed reading your post and am very happy that you stuck it out when times were rough.

I especially like to hear that playing the violin has given you comfort though tough times.

Look forward to hearing about your 2 year anniversary in a year :-)
