In my house when im alone i can play pretty decently even if i record myself to hear myself play later but the second there is another presence i clam up and squeak like a little mouse...
Happens with people, or cameras. Today i was in the shop run by teenagers that happens to have an open vault full of $20k instruments you can play freely. 
Oooh, sounds amazing right? Squeeeeeeeeeeeek! Ugh..
Oh, i need to record myself for the traveler? No problem i do it all the time should go smoothly to post on the board.... squeeeeeeeek!

I'm the same way! I can sometimes play just fine in front of people, or camera, but it's a rare occurrence, lol.
I'm jealous that your shop has a case of instruments like that! I love love love my fiddle, but I would love to try out others just for kicks. But I'm sure the same thing would happen to me... the song I know so well would just fly out of my head, my fingers would suddenly refuse to find their mark, and my bow would probably go crooked... I guess this because that's all the things that like to happen during my lessons every week, lol. I'm at least slowly getting better with my video recordings, but I think it's because I just go into it expecting the worst and then I live up to my expectations, lol.

I so know know what you mean. I've been working on a song..and I wanted to share my progress with a violin friend... UGH...

No kidding! I've just gotten used to the husband being on the other side of the wall, lol (it's been about a year now). Playing in front of someone live isn't going to happen anytime soon. Videos aren't a help either, lol, I just made one for the St. Patricks day thread... it took me 20 times, because No 1. I was shaking like a leaf (for no reason, I mean it's not like it's live, right?!) and I kept messing everything up.
I'm glad I'm not alone in this.
