The other day I was trying to explain syncopation to my jam friends, without much success. Today I thought of a great example of syncopation. I didn't realize this until I watched this little clip, but the word syncopation is even included in the Lyrics!
I really like syncopation, and try to work it in with riffs. Not really a conscious thing, more like hearing it in my head where ever it might work. I thought it might be an interesting topic, and would appreciate any tips on how to get more syncopated.
...it don't mean a thing, if it aint got that swing...doo wa, doo wa, doo wa doo wa, doo wa.

Hahahaha ! Love it !
But nope - no tips to give ! ( I mean - if I HAD any I could put into words - sure - of course I would ). Anything I do - whatever "feel" is required - at the moment just comes "from the heart" ( well, the head has something to do with it as well ).
Once I actually understand what's going on when I play, I'll try to give an answer !!!!
My "advice" ( hhahahahaha - ignore that !!!! ) is basically to "wing it"..... and after about 500 attempts - heck - it's almost THERE !!!!! And yes - it's that slipped back-beat - in the head - weird.... NOT the type of thing I play, but I do "get" it... for sure....
Cool !!!!
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)
