I think there was a thread similar to this for last fall... so here we are again.
What are you currently working on? Share a video of the tune if you like (yourself playing, or someone playing it the way you want to play it), or just let us know the tune or technique you are currently working on improving.
Happy Autumn!!

I might be a little over ambitious, but I started working on this tune last week, and went over it in class today. I'm still slow at it, but my fingers are getting used to it. Plus, my teacher let me play on her 1700s-era violin, and a couple 1800s-era bows she was testing (part of it was so she could hear what the fiddle sounded like away from her ear, she hasn't had it very long and this was her first time getting to hear it played by someone else. It was fun!)
Anyway, here it is, The Gothard Sisters playing their original tune, Hummingbird (you may remember these ladies from my Traveler videos):

@LizaA That sounds like a pretty tune to play
@Schaick Those seem like fun tunes!
And I loved getting to meet the sisters, very sweet girls. I got the sheet music from their website: http://www.gothardsisters.com/store

@Schaick No problem I have plans to add more of their songs to my sheet music collection
What I like is their sheet music comes with a sample of them playing it so you can hear what it should sound like, and eventually play along.

@Fran Fun! I'm going through the Wohlfahrt book, too. I can't remember which etude I'm working on, though. My teacher bounces me around a bit. There are some pretty ones in there, and some that I just like the feel of so don't mind using as a warm up before I get into my practice.

So lately I have just been playing stuff I have been playing for a long time....
Ashokan, Amazing Grace, Skyeboat, Godfather, and a lot of the FM sheet songs, and songs from Essentials one and two.
Once or twice a week I just play songs "little" songs from the lesson books so that I can practice playing from sheet. I had fun with simple songs last week.
Tom Dooley, Camp Town Ladies, America the Beautiful, Home on the Range, Pomp and Circ., Can-Can.
I am re-addressing Hunger Games song, Hangin' Tree.
I think I really want to lean to play Comin' through the Rye.
I also have a book of Beatles sheet music and I am dallying around with Hey Jude, and Michelle.
Happy Fall and Happy Playing all.

@coolpinkone : Hi, I noticed you were working on The Godfather....here's my try at it.
feature=youtu.be
I mess up the 'high jump' ending, so I take another run at the ending after I finish Lara's Theme. It's a bit better but still not right on...oh well
Would it be possible to post yours to see how you do it?

@Fiddlerman I am going to focus hard on Games this week.
I admit to be struggling with it more than usual. Which is odd...because it is surely a favorite for me.
I noticed some of the parts that are "easier" still have double stops... I need to start wearing my "big girl five year player pants.." ha ha.. maybe I should have said, "hat".
ahaha

@bluesviolin I loved your Godfather....I am super jealous of how well it sounds.. Jealous in a good way...and it helps me to see my lacking parts. Congrats.
Lara's was very very nice also..boy these songs are (in my opinion) some of the finest modern day scores..mmmmmm.... I love them.
Thank for sharing your video.
AWESOME !
Cheers,
Toni

Wow, you all have such great taste and most of all luck that you can actually pick which music you want to play! My teacher enslaves me
Just kidding, I love him and he's the best teacher I have ever had, in anything.. I am very lucky to have him as my teacher. Nevertheless, since he gives me so much homework to do, I can hardly ever find the time to play my favorite tunes.
Currently working and actually I am pretty much at the end of the 1st movement of Vivaldi's concerto in D major. Also working on Wohlfahrt's 27th etude from the 1st book (op. 45), and working on shifting from 1st to 3rd position as well.
Sometimes, when I am done practicing all these (which almost never happens, obviously) or whenever I am just too fed up with the shifting thing (or, as my teacher calls it, "cats" - not the fun musical!), I play "air in D major" by bach and Glenn Miller's "In the mood". Barely make any pregress at them though, since I get to practice them so seldom.
