Hey everyone,   I switched out my Fiddlerman strings for Warchal Ametyst strings this weekend.  So far, I like the sound, but they don't seem to stay in tune as easily as the Fidderman strings do.

I was curious if anyone else has any experience with Warchal Ametyst?  I'm sure it's just the break in period.

Would love to hear your thoughts/experiences!

Thanks.. Ken

Never used those myself, I use Tonicas, but no matter which strings are used, until they bed in they will keep going out of tune, Tonicas normally take a couple of weeks, they have to stretch, not sure how long the ones you are using take. Temperature and humidity also play a part.

@Kennon As Stringy said, they take a while to break in. Some take weeks, others seem to take a day or two.  it to worry.

By the way, it is great to see you visiting the forum and participating.

hey @Kennon and what everyone said.  no worries all strings ESPECIALLY synthetic will take a few days to settle in.  its normal.  Make sure to check them everyday for a week or so.

2nd what mouse said.. thank you for joining in.  need some more like you here!

@Kennon -

I have NOT tried Warchal Ametyst, only know they are low tension.  I've only seen a few reviews on Ametyst, with inconsistant remarks.

So, do you like the tone & response of these strings on your fiddle better than the Fiddlerman strings?

Of the strings I've tried, different brands take different amounts of time to settle in - and some have kept their good qualities longer than others.  The strings I currently use are expensive, but never take more than a couple days to settle & then I'm basically done messing with them for the next 6 months.

All the other strings (I've tried prior) took at least a week of playing every day to settle (like others said) & needed a tuning check every couple days, thereafter.

@ELCBK, I am really enjoying them.  I don't think they have the projection that my Fiddlerman strings had, and don't get me wrong I love Fiddlerman strings.

On my previous violin the fiddlerman strings were amazing and sounded much better than the strings that came with it.

On my new violin (A sample instrument from Fiddlershop) I actually think I prefer the Ametyst.  They sound is smooth, and not as shrill on the A and E.  I'll continue to let them break in and keep y'all posted.

I also just ordered the Fiddlerman Quality Oblong Violin case (FC100) and it arrived yesterday.. Gorgeous case!  I purchased the olive green and it looks so high quality...

LOVE FIDDLERSHOP!
