I heard this tune ( Miss Monaghans ) online a few months ago and started trying to learn it.  Part of it was making backing tracks to play along with.  Kinda liked how this one felt.

Its way slow still.  Search for other versions to get how its usually played.

I added some video footage playing to  a recording of me playing.  There are visual clues for you to understand what your really seeing.  ;)   lol.  Think of a spoof of those fancy travel videos.

No fiddles were harmed in the filming of this production.

@ABitRusty Loved the video. I really really loved your playing. I think you said it was slow? Seemed to be going at a pretty good clip to me, i preferr that speed over racing. Some of the fiddle tunes, although I like them, sound a little too busy to me because of the speed. That is their nature, I guess.. They are easier for me to listen to when at this speed, though. I like being able to listen and not have to speed up my ears, so to speak.

This is a great video. Great fiddle playing.

@Mark thanks for watching.  The video part was fairly automated.  Then just cut and paste clips.  It was a nice day so felt right.  I heard Jason Klienberg playing this and really liked it.  Fergil Scahill has a great version if youre interested.

@AndrewH thank you!  Appreciate that!

@Mouse Yeah it's hard sometimes to listen to the blazing fast playing, especially when I can't keep up myself.  But like you said they're played that way so I keep trying.  The speed here was at the point I was starting to lose it.  I think I sped it up on YouTube to the 1.5x and it started to feel about the speed others were playing... So I have some room for speedup.  Thank you for listening and comments.  I had fun with it.  Glad you liked it.

@Billyg Thanks!  Trying to be humorous.  Maybe a little too corny but all for fun.

Also.. I don't know why but typing this it lit up the stars by report button on your post.  I'd give 5 but won't it won't change for whatever reason.

Thanks!  How's your lessons coming along?  Hoping you haven't had anymore of those crisis days that you wrote about!

I've yet to have my second! The music shop was closed on May 25th for the Memorial Day weekend, so my next lesson is next Saturday, June 8th. Unfortunately, with our business craft shows already scheduled for the summer months, I will only have one lesson in June, two in July, and one in August, but starting in September I should have two a month for the rest of the year.

Yeah 2 a month for me is about right.. Sometimes once a month works depending on what we are doing.  I progress slow anyway so it gives me time to work on what she is teaching.  Working on east Tennessee blues and little Pine Sisken and few others now.  East TN blues has some 2nd position stuff that's introducing new technique.  Sounds like you have a full schedule!

Loved this one GregW! Backing track was excellent too! I can hear you are getting progressively better and better.

I still plan to revise my approaches to video takes. Just haven't had the time to do it right. I like what you did there. Using a drone? I thought the video went well with the music. I seen the back of a guy holding a fiddle, was that you ? :)

Thanks Timothy,

Yes that was me.  Video was from drone mostly.  I was trying to stay hid from neighbors and also keep fiddle in shade as much as I could.  It all was a chance to combine my toys into a video.  blink

Thanks!
