Hi folks since all you helped me greatly on the way to the audition I will tell you how it went. I didnt get in to College since two things were missing Quick and precise sight reading and being able to sing a passage naming the notes. On the positive side the pannel liked my playing a lot my pieces were very good and so was the three octave scale.

I will try again next year and will prepare the section i lacked ability on. I feel i can do this but i was never taught how to do this.

Thanks so much you guys.
Juan.

I would say, “I’m sorry”, which I am, but you have such a great attitude, that it sounded, to me, not to reflect that great attitude! I think you can do it, too, Juan. Keep at it. Now you know what to focus on while keeping your other abilities up to snuff.

You have a great attitude!

Juan, I think Cid and Fiddlerman nailed it in their posts... you have a fantastic attitude and you're going to make this happen next time round. Also, not surprised you felt good about the pieces you played... your most recent videos have been quite lovely!

I'm sure I'll get it next time you now know what to work on.

Jaun and others

The more that I thought about your post and while your playing is heads and shoulders above my ability, I too suck at sight reading which got me thinking I need to work on doing just exactly what you need to do plus memorize the finger board in it's entirety.

I found this video that Michael had created, and while it's way above my level of sight reading at the present time, it is a goal to shoot for. If you or others who are reading this are game to work together and Improve our sight reading abilities I'll contact Michael and see if I can contract him to make some more videos similar in nature as this.

@JuanFiddler - sorry to hear you didn't get in this time round, but I know you'll not give up !

Others have said it above and I second all of it - your dedication, progress and ability on the the instrument is inspirational to many.   Just get that sight reading and note-name-singing sorted, and you'll be there !!!

Well done, in spite of what's happened this time round thumbs-up

This is fantastic - incredibly useful advice.  Thank you for sharing it here.  I will definitely work on these exercises, and more videos like this would be welcomed.  This is one of the "holy grail" skills of violin playing.
