Way to go LB, how long have you been playing? I can't really be of any use because that level of tune is far beyond my ability (to play the first couple of bars of twinkle twinkle badly)
I didn't know that tune was called that I always called it "the Alton Towers music" because it is used in adverts for a theme park here in the UK called Alton Towers. I Love that tune though and can't wait until I can attempt it!
I am interested in the idea of 'position' as in "fourth position" I have done a little research, does it mean playing a sequence of notes which requires you to start with your first finger where you would normally place the numbered finger? So in forth position on your G string your first finger comes down on D instead of A?
The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese!

I just started playing that piece, and it needs alot of work.
But I picked up the violin 4 yrs ago. and it has been a slow progress mainly due to not enough time to play.
Scratch that . I ment not enough time to practice, I play around with it quite a bit.
Thank you all for the words of incoragement . And I will breakdown your suggestions FM and get to work on them. Thanks.
Play to live, Live to play!
No matter where you go, there you are!

Yes. This is what it means to play in different positions. You can keep moving up the fingerboard as well to fifth position and beyond.
