Nice to meet you, Chris. Thanks for the explanation. This thread is an interesting case study on what to do and not do when using social media for marketing. As you and your staff found out, you can't just post your press release everywhere and anywhere and expect it to work.
To effectively use a forum like this for marketing, you'd find a subtle way to get others talking about your event. Maybe you'd become an active member yourself, learning the culture here and finding a way to fit in. Then when folks trust you and learn more about you, they'd start talking you up.
It sounds deceptive, but innovative marketers have been doing it for a while now. That's where the whole "viral" concept came from. Social media has great potential for building brand loyalty but it has to be genuine and it takes work.
Fiddlerman is in business and this forum supports his business but it wouldn't be as successful as it is if he were just a pitchman. He's genuine, personable and helpful, and, as you can tell, he's built a ton of brand loyalty. And if that helps to sell his stuff, that's just fine with everyone here because it will let him keep this good thing going.
Probably the best post on this topic.
Thanks Diane
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????

For everyones information, I would like you all to know that Christian wrote me a personal email apology for the situation and we are already talking about ways to collaborate.
As you all know, I highly support learning many different styles of music and I believe that Christian can add a lot of knowledge to our site and hopefully some of you will have the opportunity to go to one of his courses.
Yay, I knew in the beginning he could be an asset to this forum.

re Stone Dog's request, "how to use loop pedals", I created a post on this subject recently here:
