I am practicing Kayser Étude No. 20. I am in a vacant motel. No, literally. The place was deserted. The owners were on vacation, and only allowed me to stay there because no other motels accepted Fiji. It was a small motel located right off highway 50. Very adventurous moment!

FiJaBAM >

 Just about every vid post of you playing has been really SWEET to listen to. This one was SOoooo inspiring to me. Seeing some frustration you were having while learning a piece was SWEET!! > not sweet to you I'm sure but to someone like me who goes through that everyday when I try to learn stuff > it reminded me that even great players like you do indeed have these moments. Thanks for that FiJaBAM

@Picklefish, @KindaScratchy,

You guys rock!  Thank you for that!

@FiJaPAW, thank you for your piece as well, perhaps one day, I'll be able to PRACTICE a piece like that.  I'm also glad you took the time to post here!  I hope your adventure is going well!

Thanks, @StoneDog ! I know we were off in places in terms of timing and intonation, but we were also on in other places, especially the lower toned sections  where there are some cool sounding harmonies. It's so great when everything comes together.

This was yet another great learning experience here on fiddlerman.com.

I like Pierre's idea for a future duet contest or similar. I'll try to apply what I learned here to that.

And, wow, @FiJaPAW that was really good! I agree that it was encouraging -- or consoling -- to see such a good player experience some frustration, too. Regardless of our playing ability, I guess we all share those moments.

@Picklefish, @KindaScratchy, - Love the duet!

@FiJaPAW, That was really good - and that was your practice piece?!?  Reminded me of a quote I saw recently.  It said:

Not that I wanna hog all the duets or anything but I'm game for whatever, whenever. So, if there are no other takers lemme know. I think it's fine fun!

late late late... facepalmfacepalm

This is  lesson 8 in First Lesson Violin Book by Craig Duncan, Mel Bay Publications., 2002.

It is called Largo from The New World Symphony.

I started working on this and I like it.  I have been bowing better and the whole notes are  fun for "pretty" bowing.  This shows some crooked bowing... and some  tempo issues.

I was playing from sheet. So I know when I commit it to my mind (it is an easy one), I can make it super pretty.

It is not letting me  attach photos or anything at this site anymore. :)

Very nice, Toni! I like that piece a lot and you played it well. Better late to a party, than never, I say. It was worth the wait.

thumbs-up

Thanks for your post Toni. :-)
Seems to me that your playing is more relaxed and natural than ever. Am I right?
I'll look into why you are not able to upload photos or attachments.
