Thomases great great aunt(my great aunt) is 94 years old and is in ill health in the hospital where she has been for almost a month now. Her son reached out to me and asked if Thomas could play her favorite hymn for her when she gets out. Of course we are making concessions and recording it for her so she can watch it while in the hospital. Thomas adores her and he has played for her a number of different times. She is the last of the older generation of Baileys and is the only one who remembers the second generation of Bailey violinists/fiddlers. Anyway, For the life of me, I just cannot find the sheet music for it. I hate hate hate giving my c.c. info out on a strange site for it, so does anyone know where it may be online? Preferably not in Ab major because that will be a little too difficult for him to play. I saw one, but it looks so high in pitch, it just cant be the one. Boy we would appreciate any help you folks can give us. If it were a duet with 2 violins, even better but we are pleased with just one. Thank you so much.  Here is the song I am referring to.

Here are two versions, first in A♭ Major and then in G Maj. Let me know if the G Major will work. I've put this in MuseScore and can transpose to any key you want.

 First off, thank you so much for doing this for us but, and I didnt want to come right out and say it, but he has only a couple days to learn this for reasons that ....well, she is just in rough shape. Anyway, Thomas is just now learning A major and third position. I am sorry for being so picky and dont even know if we can be helped, but  he would need something just a little less tricky to play. He can do third position if needed,but very little so the G major may work. all we can do is try.Are each of those the entire song?

No problem. Here is A Major. Yes, complete at least according to the hymn I found.

Thank you my friend. That was very nice of you to do this for us. Let me ask, are each of these the entire song? They seem rather short.

@JimandThomas  @JohnG

The G Maj version may be easier if it is down an octave, or if it is in D Maj--both of those stay in first position, and are probably the most familiar keys to Thomas.

I've taken the versions JohnG has above, transposed & attached.

**EDITED: I noticed that the attachment for D version was not working--re-attached, should be ok now.

Also, this is what they sound like:

In the Garden G:

@JimandThomas -

Sorry, didn't see your post until late... sending prayers.

So, here's more options to add to JohnG's & SharonC's:

1. - Little different - in GM.

https://musescore.com/user/290.....es/5456413

2. - Duet in GM.

Free Printable Duet

3. In DM with 2nd voice option (borrow from piano).

https://www.musicsheets.org/in.....and-piano/

4. - More options.

This attachment has it in several keys, but the 1st one is in CM - shows you some harmony with double stops (you don't have to play ALL the chord notes).

Thank you everyone. I am going to print out all of them actually today while he is at school and see which one he prefers. Boy, this Yankee sure does appreciate the kindness you folks have shown us....more than you know.

I was going to offer to do it for you but we have such great members here. So quick. 😁
Definitely worth getting Musescore as JohnG mentioned it above. You can download anything and change the key and edit as desired.

Jim speaking(Thomases Dad) Thank you @Fiddlerman for the offer. I spent the day yesterday hand writing the best score for Thomas from the ones provided by everyone because he didnt want to reach up in the third position quite yet. It took me a bit because I really am behind the times when it comes to Musescore or anything like that. I suppose I should I should give it a try sometime.

@JimandThomas - So, what happened with this. Has he learned one? Has he been able to play (or record) for his great-great-aunt?

Hi @JohnG yes he did play it for her but she cant listen to it until she wakes up a little more. She had a wicked rough time with surgery and all of us are praying that she wakes up a little more tonight. It came out pretty good considering we had 2 hours to practice it and record one part after I wrote it. I took parts of a couple of different pieces and put it together so he could do a duet all by himself, hahaha. . Not too proud of it because I should not have rushed it to get it done, but it made Thomas feel better. He wanted to do it all by himself so I recorded one part and then psynched it with him playing. He missed a couple notes on both parts but all and all, it made him happy.

@JimandThomas -

BEAUTIFUL!

Really amazing, and such a stressful situation - she will LOVE it!

Was Thomas able to listen along, in real time, to himself while he also played the other part?  Or, did he just play each part on it's own - with you mixing it afterwards, Jim?

It was an extremely enjoyable performance. 🥰

Thank you for sharing all your positive energy!

@ELCBK LOL. Yes, I had it downloaded on his phone and held the phone next to the camera I was filming with so he could hear it. And thank you for the kind words. He watched it after before sending it to aunt Marion and he cringed at a couple spots but really wanted to send it to her regardless.
