Although I’m definitely going to have to watch more than once. Others may find it helpful …

Thank you!

EDIT : after having a first try at it, I'm not sure how much the 'leverage' bit applies to viola as opposed to violin. On my viola the strings feel quite a lot farther away from the fingerboard – they need much more than a tiny motion to press them down. Got to keep experimenting.

@wtw -

Did you ever measure your Viola string height?

These are the recommended measurements in this video:

From the top edge, at the end to the fingerboard to the underside of the A string - 4.5mm to 5mm

From the top edge, at the end of the fingerboard to the underside of the C string - 7mm to 8mm

These VIOLA measurements are mentioned at 02:15.

My Viola A String is 7mm, but that may be because I have 5 strings - my E string is 6mmMy C string is 7.5mm

🤔... I would like to know if it's bad to have my A & E this high.

I don't have to press much on my A & E strings when I play higher positions, but my D & G string are definitely hard to play any higher than 3rd.

Thanks. Yup, it looks alright - my C string is between 7 and 8mm, my A string is slightly more than 5 (but as it is thinner, it's fine).
