Still no one has purchased the chin-rest kit.

I have emailed both Mr Bison and Music Maker, though their is no guarantee that they have seen or recieved any notification whatsoever.

I have a box packed with 7 chin-rests which I am not selling waiting to be sent around. It won't be worth it for me unless this kit is in constant motion. I can't sell used chin-rests for any kind of profit so maybe this idea was too ambitious of me.

Should I forget the list and just make this a first buy first serve?

I was thinking that I would email the holder of the box a label to the next person but if members are not responsible it will be a difficult task.

I think you hit the nail on it's head, Responsibility.  All too often today things are taken for granted.  I's I'll do it when I get around to it.

Hi Fiddlerman,

I've been out of town for the last couple of days and just got back last night, sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner. After talking to you on the chat-box the other day and seeing Gail's picture, I think I'm just going to go ahead and get the Stuber like we discussed, seems like it will work the best for me. After our discussion I just figured you knew I was going to get the Stuber instead of trying them all out, sorry for any confusion, I should have been more explicit!

FM, I have very much been looking forward to these chin rests, and I am still interested, just waiting my turn. However, I will be away only the week of March 5, so if that interferes with my status or ability to return the box, please rearrange the list accordingly.  I think it is a wonderful idea!  I will add the dates of my being away to the existing list. Thanks for the opportunity!coffee I don't know if I understood, but I would not be interested in purchasing an entire box.

Dee, I think the "pizzicato" came from a misunderstanding in a post where I answered a member in the wrong thread. I believe that a member asked me if I had ever heard of string plucking or something like that and my reply was pizzicato. Then we joked about it. I first checked all my distributors to see if anyone had a Pizzicato Chin-rest. LOL

You asked for a Zitsman instead of the Berber and it's thanks to you that the Zitsman is in the kit.

exactly

I put together the kit based on the most popular chinrests and different models for different type of chins and jaws and since the kit will go from person to person I can't change it too much. frown

@ Mr Bison, that is completely understandable. I just needed to hear that people are still interested.

Hi Fiddlerman, I do recall the misunderstanding about pizzicato chin rests.  Forgot to remove it from my post.  I think the 7 chin rests will be ample to make a decision. Then I can get on with my violin career!  violin-studentcoffee

Anyone on the list is welcome to buy the kit now. If two buy today I will prioritize the name highest on the list. Pky or Dee?

I'll accept two at once and include the label for shipping to the next address along with the kit. After this week no more list, first buy first serve. thumbs-up
 Thanks

Go for it Dee. I'll send it tomorrow unless Pky buys it tonight. I need two to buy anyway to keep it moving. Hopefully someone else will buy it during the week :-)

Should be fun to get this officially started.

Sorry, i was too busy working on my paper for a class for the last couple weeks.

I'm still interested. Am i understanding it right -- I take the one I like and return the rest? If I don't buy any, i still get charged for $30?

I have two three weeks of break between now and my next paper, so it's a great time for me. So, if Dee take one box, do you have another box for me to try? How do I pay?

Actually $20 dollars but we can discuss that. I just don't want to loose too much money off of sending this kit around. I won't be selling the ones that are in the actual kit so they will become used. Maybe some will get damaged, plus I pay the shipping. It's just a way to maintain costs but I might be charging too much. Time will tell.

I'm anticipating that most people will find a chin-rest that they like.

Hello Fiddlerman, I just noticed there is a chin rest test kit on Fiddlershop.com.  Is that where I order it?  Sorry, I was assuming something else, or I would have ordered it by now. dazed

Yes Dee :-)
I'm kind of surprised that no one got it yet. Go for it and I'll send it on Monday. No more post man for the weekend :-(

Update on Chin Rest Kit:  I received the box yesterday (Thursday) after it was shipped to northern Ohio from Florida on Tuesday. It was FUN spending an entire evening trying the 7 chin rests and adjusting my shoulder rests to accommodate each different chin rest.

I finally have it narrowed down to either the Zitsman, or the Berber.  FM's Berber is a little higher than the Berber I presently use on my violin, and his seems to provide more stability for me. I will make a decision soon and then order the one I want from Fiddlershop.com, as instructed there, and then either ship the entire contents back to the Fiddlershop, or to whoever wants to try the kit next if I hear from Fiddlerman about that.

So that's the status of the chinrest test kit. You can read all the details on Fiddlershop.com.  It was great for me. Now I know what I can and cannot use.  I recommend!thumbs-up

A really good method to try out a few. Well done FM!
Being in the UK, the kit wasn't really an option for me.
My teacher showed me her (old) Flesch type to try. Consequently, this arvo I picked up my own Flesch which is now fitted and sooooo comfortable, (maybe I need to use some more cork to shim it a little higher and keep it raised off the tailpiece)

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....

Thanks Dee,

Please someone needs to buy the kit or Dee must send it back to me. That defeats some of the purpose of my idea. I'm OK with letting the idea die but I think it is ashame for those who have no better way of testing chin-rests.
Anyone can buy it at any time. No more list.
I'll let MGN in whenever he gets back and anyone else on the list such as Pky but after that it is first come first serve. Only two can be purchased at once so no risk that you must wait too long if you buy. Only within the US and not Hawaii or Alaska for now.

Looks like the idea is already stuck at the first test home. MGN are you back and ready to have the kit sent to you? Pky, are you no longer interested?

Fiddlerman, did my chin rest test kit review for Fiddleshop go through?  Submitted it Saturday late a.m. Maybe it takes a while for it to post.

Dear fellow violinists, if you are having any problems with chin rest comfort, this is a rare opportunity for you to try several. Details at Fiddleshop.com
