While on Facebook, a Fiddlerman violin popped up in my local marketplace (Albuquerque, NM).  The back of the neck back has a black rectangle with white writing that says "Fiddlerman Made in France".  I don't know the model (the add did not say).  So, did Fiddlerman have violins made in France at one time?  When would that have been?  What's the history?  I'd love to hear the Fiddlerman history.

@sf_bev If it shows up again, can you screenshot it, crop to get you surrounding info off the photo and post it?

The problem is that our name has become popular enough that there are fakes. We have 4 workshops in China that we work closely with, and even source wood for better instruments. We are the only ones that sell our Fiddlerman instruments, and they are not made in France. Not that it would be a bad thing, but they would cost considerably more considering the cost of labor.
Here is the thing though.

Those instruments are not made in France either. In other words, it's completely deceiving. There are SO many instruments made in China that are being sold as European instruments. Not referring to Fiddlerman, but in general.
Beware. Bargains are usually bargains for a reason.

I was  the hoping  there was some interesting story about Pierre first finding a violin shop in France that produced violins for him, etc., etc.  I didn't even think it might be a fraud.  Silly naive me, especially since the sticker looked so out of place.  I'm not even looking for a cheap violin, but "violining" is my new passion, so I spend most of my time practicing, reading, learning, googling, etc.  I peruse my local FB marketplace just out of curiosity, mainly hoping a great used car will pop up, but violins have started appearing.  The fake Fiddlerman caught my attention as a new Fiddlershop customer.

Here's the link to the "Made in France" Fiddlerman violin.

WOW !

Unsurprising though I suppose.....

Maybe it was THIS fiddlerman ? ( j/k, the chap that wrote the book in 2009 was, I believe, over 90 years old then... )Another-Fiddlerman.JPG
