I've just received my new Artist violin and immediately noticed the metal brace under the tailgut is showing signs of corrosion.

Should this item be returned? Or is this considered normal wear and tear? Can it be fixed?

Thanks

As Fran said, you should contact the Fiddlershop.

Hey Stewie. I'll admit that the varnish doesn't look great on that saddle. However, it's not corrosion and you have nothing to worry about. I can guarantee that if you ever have an issue with the saddle we would change it... The saddle is made of Ebony. There are so many grades of Ebony that sometimes the makers color them. I didn't notice that bad coloring job on your instrument when it got shipped. Someone at Fiddlershop, if not me, always plays and tests all instruments before shipping. Call support and we'll take care of you.

We could clean off the varnish (color) and dye it properly if desired, or offer a store credit to compensate for the flaw. Give us a call at (954)530-5999

Oh, it's just varnish on ebony? I thought it was rusting metal.

OK, I can live with that. I'll just let it fall off.

Thanks
