Fiddle Hell Massachusetts is a yearly gathering of fiddlers, cellists, and mandolin/guitar/banjo players to meet, jam, learn, and have fun. This year's Fiddle Hell will be held Friday, Nov. 3 to Sunday, Nov. 5 at the Westford Regency hotel in Westford, Massachusetts.
It's friendly and diverse, crossing all ages and including many traditional fiddle styles. Typically, there are about 20 percent beginners, 50 percent intermediates, and 30 percent advanced players, with many workshop and jam session choices at each level. Roughly 15 percent of the attendees are kids, and there are some sessions just for them.
Last year, there were 430+ musicians, mostly fiddlers. They came from as far away as the Netherlands, Scotland, Québec City (Canada), California, Alabama, and Florida, and from as near as Westford .
Besides fiddlers, the event also welcomes mandolin players, cellists, violists, guitar and banjo players, and singers. There will be workshops and jams for all these instruments (and for singers).
This will be my fifth Fiddle Hell. I've always had a great time and learned a lot. Last year, I even met up with a couple of Fiddlerman.com members. If any members are going this year, PM me and maybe we can meet up.
