I was also surprised that the original was that fast, but I checked it with my metronome app and got the same results.

110 feels pretty good to me.

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

I think I'll pass on this one, I can't get into the rhythm of this song (rhythm is not one of my strength)

Oh well, I'll wait till Christmas. blink

AnnyJ, I'm not picky. Just give it a shot. I'll make a demo soon.

I know I won't be good enough to take part in this, but I've been having fun playing some of the string of notes slowly :)

You will be fine. :)
Won't cost to give it a shot right? Would be nice to have you on the project.

I downloaded the other parts, I'll take a look and see how I can play through them. I was messing around with the violin 1 sheet, which I know is a bit beyond my ability, but that's what was making it fun, lol.

Maybe if I listen to it a whole bunch it might click, works sometimes. Do you have any particular them of costumes in mind or can it be anything? (scary or unscary)vampire8

As far as each part is concerned, I found that for me Violin 4 was the trickiest, because of the mixture of Bs and Bbs on the G string.

Any costume at all would be great. Addams family members would be even cooler. :) I'll accept a princess, fairy, bunny, or anything scary.... Actually anything you would wear to a Halloween party. Perhaps a scary background too.

Add me to the list of folks that were surprised that the original was quite that fast - that is not how I remembered it in my head - until I watched one of the YouTube clips - and then I remembered it being that fast :^)  I think I will be able to conquer 96 by the time we need to submit - maybe even 100...run away bow will definitely come into play if it is any faster. I am working on the 1st and 4th parts at this point in time but hoping to also get the other two up to par as well. This is the first song I have played in Bb so it is a great piece for me to work on - fun and functional! Now I just have to figure out where I can video myself playing so that I can have a scary background :^)

Back to the metronome!

Good stuff @kathykoz - I may not have said "hello" to you as a new member ( posts sometimes just go by un-noticed ) so if I have missed saying "Hia" - then - Welcome !

Yup - it is a fun piece, and as FM says - we're not trying to imitate the original - but I had that impression myself in my head regarding the tempo - but it will sound quite different with massed violins at a slower pace, I'm sure !

Good luck with it, have fun !

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Re tempo, I've been playing along with a metronome, and I would struggle to cope with it if it was any faster than 104.

Hi, all!  Just wanted to let you know that Les and I probably won't participate in the Addams Family project.  We were really looking forward to it -- we like spooky things!  However, Les was recently in the hospital and ended up needing open heart surgery.  It was a triple bypass.  So, his strength is down and he is not to exert his chest muscles for a while.  My strength and free time is down because I am taking care of Les!  So don't count on us being in the project (I suppose there is a small chance I could get it together, but I feel overwhelmed right now).

I am looking forward to hearing everyone else's "all together ooky" music!

A fun way to make a mask: find the image you want, print a size of it that will fit your face, cut it out and glue it to a pair of cheap sunglasses after removing the lenses.

If you prefer not having anything over your eyes, you can glue something wild and crazy to the top of the glasses.. kinda like this:mask.jpg

@Leanna and Les - very sorry to hear that.   Take care both of you, and look after yourselves - that's the number-one priority for now !

Thank you, @Leana @BillyG and everyone! We'll be fine, but we do have to focus on Les' health for a while.

Billy, I was able to keep up with FOMT, at least, by smart phone and laptop while keeping vigil at the hospital for two weeks!

Best wishes to you and Les, @Leanna . I hope he has a speedy recovery and that you're both back playing together very soon.

On a side note, maybe I'm slow on the uptake or haven't been paying enough attention to the forum lately, but I just realized that we have two members with nearly identical names: @Leana and @Leanna. I was momentarily confused reading through this thread...thought a member was talking to herself.
