Best wishes to you and Les, @Leanna . I hope he has a speedy recovery and that you're both back playing together very soon.

On a side note, maybe I'm slow on the uptake or haven't been paying enough attention to the forum lately, but I just realized that we have two members with nearly identical names: @Leana and @Leanna. I was momentarily confused reading through this thread...thought a member was talking to herself.

You're not alone. I was confused as well.

@Leanna I hope you're husband has a speedy recovery! Take care of yourself, too.

Thank you, @Kindascratchy and @Leana !  I appreciate the good wishes for Les and me.

The name confusion gets me, too.  I see something with my name that I don't remember writing. But that's okay, since Leana writes smart stuff, I wouldn't mind people thinking I wrote it! :-)

Les, the cellist, here.  I still hope that Leanna and I might be able to make a submission, . . . Who knows?  Thanks for the good wishes; I am making a great recovery from the "tripple" surgery.  And, I thought I was in pretty good shape.  If I stay away from the upper half of the bow on my higher strings, A and D, it's not too difficult to play. But, I won't push it beyond what's safe.  I am so thankful for Leanna's love and care; she has been here for everything.

We need to agree on a tempo Ripton.
Let's nail that down today. I'll make a decision by the end of the day on tempo. Doesn't have to be written in stone but when I make the click track I don't want to have to change it. :)

I'm thinking that would be the slowest tempo. Is everyone OK with that?
Secondly, do you guys like the back track to have the melody or would you prefer just rhythm? I'm thinking, some could get lost without it.

Tempo - I'm happy !

Dunno about the melody line or not - ( it doesn't matter for me - just thinking about others ) - it would be fine for vln1, but if you're thinking "some could get lost" - they would probably still get lost on the other parts trying to "play against the melody-line"....  just my thoughts.    Again, from my own perspective - I don't mind - oh - if I HAD to make a decision - it would be just the click, no melody (really for the reason I gave).   Oh heck - do both !   Grrrrrr.....   LOL

I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - guntohead.JPG

Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

I vote for putting in the melody! I think it help to keep me on pitch and oriented to the whole piece.

I'd be happy either with or without the melody.

If you were worried about people on the lower parts getting confused, you could consider just including the 'dah dah dah dahs' as they are the same (or very similar) rhythm in all the parts.

It's all done now.

Please visit the main page and download the click-track.

Please consider dressing up for this one. I can't emphasize enough how special the final result will be if you dare to dress up. This is HALLOWEEN!!!!!

Let's have a blast with this one.

This sounds like so much fun!  Although E flat in particular scares me...Has anyone seen those dog videos where the owners dress the dogs up, and then go behind them and use their own arms/hands in the sleeves, to pretend the dogs are eating at the table?  so funny....maybe we could do something like that for the snaps with an invisible partner...lol...

Is there a 'complete idiot's guide' as to how to follow the instructions for submissions? I have no clue to to convert to MP4 or MPEG-4 or SPREND....

I just figured out how to record using my laptop on you tube.  I guess I'll have to get some headphones/earbuds to listen to the playback file; but I'm not sure if I can do both at the same time to make a recording; I don't have a smart phone....

But hey, Halloween!

Ok, track downloaded... a little faster than I'm ready for, but I'm glad to have the track to practice with even if I need to use the slow down app to work my way up to tempo!

For the finger snaps, I'm thinking of doing my hand (or someone else's) coming out of the box like Thing does. It would require a separate recording if I do it myself, but as long as it's with the click track it shouldn't be a problem.

Let the bow flow.

Downloaded! Tempo sounds quite manageable so I'll start practicing with the click track instead of the metronome.

All I need now is to find a bald wig and an old light bulb......
