......Thanks to your comment Bill I was able to find Jols email in my spam folder and followed the link to 5 parts.![]()
I also received CID's parts. I'm so happy I posted the list so far.
I'll continue to do it from time to time, but more importantly we need to show all the videos. If anyone wants me to choose a different video from the one I chose, best you let me know now. Only one person so far has indicated which video they want me to use. Only one person sent MP3's on the remaining submissions. Of course I never asked for that but it's helpful for people to tell me what name they want me to use on credits and which video they would like used.
There's your answer then @Jols and @Mouse - all good !!!
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

Cool, sounds like a lot of submissions! ( LOL - I only sent in all the additional audios because in the past, I suspect some projects have suffered from having little other than the Vln 1 part)
Meant to say @Ripton - yeah - well done there, and it's a great plan to do these play-alongs - really helpful.
I also do this sort of thing (not to "copy", but to learn technique) and I just keep these locally for the duration of a project, or whatever else it is (like learning a specific technique - from all sorts of various free stuff on YT) - but I take it one step further and make a combined video. Reviewing the video can be quite "telling" - here's one I did along to Pierre's Vln 1 - the video is unlisted, please don't share once you have the link, it WILL be removed anyway once the project is released -
In the video - Notice -
(1) the LONGGGG bows Pierre uses, where mine tend, generally, to be somewhat shorter (but I do manage full end-to-end bows on occasion - and embarrassingly I'll sometimes pull right back, and off the tip ROFL!!!!),
(2) Piere's use of "real" vibrato - I can fake, well, manage a subtle "finger" vib - but still struggle with the wider vibrato.
(3) my, in places errr - let's say not quite perfect intonation
(4) my complete inability at times to lock into the click track..... D'Oh...
(5) my entirely cavalier attitude to the dynamics/articulation of the piece - yes - I *can* play certain pieces with the expression and passion they deserve, but, for where I am in my playing journey right now - before I can manage to do that - I have to "own" the piece (in the sense of not having to follow sheet, and in-ear click-track and video all at the same time - once I "own it" yes - then the expression, dynamics and passion do indeed appear in my playing)
(6) Our "approach" to the instrument is visibly different - but that's only because Pierre's violin is strung normally, G,D,A,E - I'm playing on my "viola-strung-fiddle", which is strung C, G, D, A - so my bowing arm is approaching the top two strings.
So - it is not that I ever intentionally "copy for copying's sake" another player - no - that of course is not what I'm doing - it's all about understanding technique, learning, and comparing how I manage against a pro-player, and accepting where my limitations are - all cool !!! I should add, I do this type of thing with other people who demonstrate technique on YouTube - it is really educational, and I find doing this sort of thing hugely beneficial ! Once you have a combined video like this, you can review, in excruciating detail, precisely where you have messed up.
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -

@BillyG yay, thanks for pointing that out !
I'm one of the guilty few who cut the video too close to the start @Fiddlerman I sent you a note this morning. I uploaded a version of my Violin 3 with 5 additional seconds before the start. Please let me know if I need to make any more changes or if you need me to do it to my Violin 4 or 5 video instead. I have my computer next to me all day and it should be fairly quick to make those updates.
I'm an adult violin learner just coming out of a 4-year hiatus!

@Jols - hayyy - SO happy your submissions were found - not a problem, my pleasure entirely, glad to help !!!!
P.S. Jols - I'm pretty certain a 5 seconds lead-in will be more than perfect !!!
I don't know the entire processing details Pierre goes through - but I do know, from my own multi-player projects in the past -yup - there are "things to do" - like -
(1) adjust the levels of each player's submission(s) to match other player's levels
(2) cancel your background noise/hiss (everyone has that, even in a quiet room)
(3) if (as the producer of a small group project) I'm really concerned about the tonal balance between players, and/or instruments, then sure , with a "good/reasonable" track, I'll adjust the levels for dynamics, where, perhaps, the player had not done so.
etc
etc
etc
.... it's a serious challenge - and more power to those who do this type of mix-down for a living.... Beats me !!!!!
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
