Anyone here from or familiar with the Travis/surrounding county area?

Ive been wanting to try a jam sometime, but all of them that ive found are when i work, where's a good place to network and/or meet people to play with.

Hey there...bummer  about not being able to jam.

Not a Texan... but I know you an look online for Meet-ups.  My fiddle friend did that and she met up a few times and is already in a Band Now!!!

Good luck with finding a meet up.  Keep on looking.

Good luck.  🙂

Cheers.

No, I don't know the area. Have you seen this?: http://www.centraltexasbluegra...../jams.html

Have you checked at a music store nearest to you?  I jam at a music store about 20 minutes from my home.

Ask at the local library.  If they don't have one already you might be able to start one.  I checked with our local library as to whether they had jams. I could walk if there was one there. They don't have a jam at my local library but they do have a family folk singing every month and I guess a few bring instruments. They were willing to let me get one going but at the time I was so new to this jamming thing that I declined to start one up.

I know of people who built a barn to hold jams.  One is about 30+ minutes away. You never know there might be a place like that near you!!

Then is there the possibility of a Church, high school, college?

Keep searching!!

@Schaick I've been there, however my problem is that I work from 4pm-12am sun-thurs and in saturday am in synagogue from 10-1 ish.  My synagogue actually has a klezmer jam that meets once a month on Sunday during a time I can actually go, but thing have just kept coming up lol.

I hadn't thought about the library thing, I've actually never gone to a local library here since I moved back in 09 aside from a NANOWRIMO meetup.

I have some friends that want to jam with me too, but one keeps moving around town and they both work opposite schedules to me DX.

If I get this new job I've applied for, all my problems will be solved, but otherwise I'm in a weird way lol

@SecondFiddle  Cool, I was going to mention a synagogue but wasn't sure what kind of music was allowed. A klezmer jam!!  How cool would that be!!  You just got to go!!

Best wishes concerning your new job prospects!!
