Yesterday I started getting a sore throat and now I am weak with a slight fever. Don't really want to work today but I have to drive to Palm Beach and play a wedding. I guess I should be thankful to have work. So what can I do to get more energy?

I'm sure my reply is too late for the wedding, but here are my recommendations when trying to pull yourself together when all you want to do is climb under the covers and hibernate.

Take whatever medications you can without damaging your ability to perform, take a shower (steamy for congestion, cooler for fever), drink lots of fluids (I'm fond hot tea with lemon and honey soothing), and nap when you can (if possible). You must eat, but eat smaller, lighter meals more frequently.

Most importantly, I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks LLL,

I am so happy to be home and in bed now. I made it to the end and was shivering like crazy after that. The aspirin got me through it all. Those were the longest two hours that I have had in ages. Luckily I was carpooling with my buddy and he drove me home. Hope that he doesn't get sick.

Good advice Loopy. Thanks,

Have a cup of milk tea(my favorite) + paracetamol + good meal + good sleep + a kiss from your wife(this is my secret LOL, aha JK I just want you to smile). Haha that works for me LOL.

I hope you'll be better soon Mr. Pierre :)) have a nice day!

Thanks Rotex, I'm smiling. Much better today. This is the first time in a LONG time that I have been sick. Hopefully all up-hill from here.

Yessss, it works again to reply on posts!!!!

Looks like you got a lot of good advice:) I think, the main rules to improve the state is the following:

a) the hygiene-- shower, tooth brushing, you must feel fresh.

b) the appearance: as a girl, i use makeup. it will actually defocus one for one hour from that one is ill, if one feels goodlooking. so do whatever needs to be done to feel goodlooking :)

c) aspirin :) no headaches or shivering should be present while performing.

d) menthos! you must take care of the sore throat. before the performance, have a menthos...but dont mix it by having a softdrink nearby...you know what happens when mixing menthos and soft drinks?

I wanted to ask: is there possibility for you to do an agreement with two friend violinists, that if any of you get ill you offer the work to each other? for such a thing as this wedding, it would be helpful sometimes to have the backup option to stay at home, but send there a friend instead of you...and he could do the same if he would get ill.

I actually thought about getting a replacement but this contractor feels so strongly about choosing the replacement herself. Also she calls me first for all her work and I never let her down. It's difficult to find people who will produce the quality necessary to insure that the contractors will continue to get more work. One bad job and a contractor may never call again.

I was confident that I could get by on an aspirin but didn't expect for the fever to flare up like it did. Fortunately I was car pooling with my friend since it was an hour away up in Palm Beach.

Thanks for all your tips, I did all except for the make-up and the Mentos. Good thing that I don't drink soda. Least of all, Diet soda.Cool
