Okay, a little background. I took cello lessons for a while. My instructor is the wife of the owner of the music shop. She texted me today to tell me about a cancelled violin lesson tomorrow. Later, she texted me to see if I wanted to get together to do something with and her cello. So, Thursday we will be “jamming” for about half hour or so. She asked how far along I was in thr Suzuki book I was using. I told her I really did not know because we started in the middle and I had to ask my violin instructor to go back to the beginning. (I know why she assumed that is where we would start, but I can’t do it that way) Then we had numerous cancelled lessons, so I really have no idea because I have been moving along in my own.

Well, the former cello instructor texted me a piece. I looked at it and my jaw dropped. I told her I would try it between now and Thursday. I told her that I have no idea what the “Tr” over a note here and there is. I told her that if it is a trill, I don’t do that yet. My violin instructor was going to show me how to put it into Danny Boy to spruce it up amd we haven’t had a lesson since she said that. So the former cello instructor asked me to send her a copy of that. It was available for anyone to download, so I emailed it to her as a backup.

Anyway, I printed what was texted to me. When I printed if, it is all shaded qnd dark shadow towards the bottom and I issues reading it. I have looked for it online and cannot find it. If anyone knows where it is so I can download it, a link would be fantastic. Printing it from a snapshot of it is not very clear.

I have tried playing it. I really have a hard time. I have never done so many accidentals. I hqve never done any E sharps, D sharps, switching so many times between C sharp and C natural. I have issues with C and G natural because of their location. I have just been playing the first littlensection and I really do not like it, but ai am up for a challenge and will try it, but it would be so much easier with a nice clear black and white I can print from a PDF.

This is it. Does anyone know what else I can Google if you don’t have a link where I can download it. I have Google Menuet, Menuet G major, No. 9 Menuet.

Thanks

Do you know the composer? You can try searching imslp.org if it's a piece that is in the public domain otherwise you could try this: I cleaned it up a bit for you, but the bottom half is still a little rough. Or you might just ask them to send you a better picture or have them scan it and send that to you.

@FortyNothing  Thank you. No, I don’t know the composer. I will have to text her tosay and ask, but also let her know that I have tried and tried, but there are too many spots I just am not ready for.  I know she has Suzuki Cello Books, so I am going to go through mine and see what I can find. Or, look online for something a little more at my level. It would be nice to find a piece with a part for violin and a oart for cello, not just doing both parts the same. That is what would happen with any cello song. She does not play violin and has no idea what I would be doing with just a couple momths of lessons.

Thanks, again. Much appreciated.

I don't recognise it, but it's in B minor, not G major. Two sharps is D major or B minor and the last note is a B. And if you sing or whistle it, you'll hear it's in B minor.

It doesn't seem to have come from Suzuki, although I only have old editions.

Thank you all for the assistance. It is beyond my abilities right now. I created another thread topic stating the somgs I found just now online and went the PDF’s to my former cell instructor. Should be fun on Thursday.

You are aware it's a piano piece, with a bass clef and a treble clef? (I was probably only sleepily looking at the treble line when I commented it's not Suzuki)

So what you really need to do is Google for PDFs of elementary or grade 1 piano pieces, assuming you don't have any already. Maybe it's Suzuki piano book 1?

The problem is what's not tricky on piano may be tricky on violin and vice versa (hence that A#).

I am not using this one any longer.

I found two pieces online that were written for an easy violin and easy cello duet. I actually have played around wirh one of them. It is in one of the books from a lesson series I bought when I had trouble finding an instructor.  Looks exactly like the one in the book. Nothing was changed. The online version just has the cello part added. I could do the cello part. We should be all set to goof around.
