Homeschooling isn't just sitting at the kitchen table, filling in workbooks. I homeschool my kids, and we're definitely out doing more now than we were when we were doing traditional school. Gym class at the Y, violin class, field trips (with other kids), girls club (like girl scouts), Sunday School, art classes...etc. Lots of friends too.

homeschooling has given me the opportunity to learn all the academics i could learn in a public or private school without the immoral environment. no one can honestly say that public or private (especially private) is beneficial for a person's moral growth. there's a public highschool in my area where they had to take the doors off the bathrooms to make sure the students weren't doing anything they weren't supposed to. (and its not even that big of a city)
its only lonely if you want it to be. there are various homeschool groups for socializing and such. i used to be in a P.E. class, my dad used to teach a volleyball class, and i am currently in a dance class. all of these are mainly for homeschooled students.
another point about public or private schooling...when in our lives will we ever be grouped together with people our own age? we will always be with people of varying ages and backgrounds. (like this forum for example)
i'm glad i was/am homeschooled. its given me opportunities that i wouldn't have had otherwise.
i better stop typing, the scroll bar came up in the box

Yeah! Another homeschooler! -high five-
I was glad to be homeschooled too. There's some goofy kids at the schools. :/
I'm in orchestra at a high school right now. It's crazy what happens during just one hour at school. The mouths some of the kids have. Man, if I said some of the stuff they said, I would have the taste of soap in my mouth for the rest of my life. >_<
There are also no doors on the bathrooms at this school either.

I think you should get out and explore some street smarts G. I really don't understand home schoolin' . Sounds very lonely to me. Your prom pic should have your partner by your side. Get out there man!
Well, home school have their own network and connect with some local school so they are not lonely at all. Parents get together and share their expertise and teach each other's children. They have their own community and resources. Correct me G if I'm wrong.

Are you guys studying anything in particular at home to make a living at? I'm curious... I posted a month or so ago about the high school drop out rate here in southern California. Most kids are dropping out and that is really sad.
homeschoolers study pretty much the same thing kids in public/private schools do. so we're meeting the same academic requirements as other students. in some cases more, and in some less, depending on the student or family.
and pky, yes some groups do have those kinds of networks where parents contribute the specific resources they have. the group we're in has some things like that...one lady has an art appriciation class...can't think of any others off hand.
and thank you
