http://www.simplyviolin.com/pa.....Identifier

Very complete collection of string information.

Also look at site CATEGORIES for good hints.

Thanks Oliver, I'll make a note of it.

My interest in the site is purely technical for violin string identification.

The fact that the sysop is a looker AND from my old stamping grounds has no bearing on my interest.

LOL, I think that fiddlefaddle is just being nice to me. Thanks fiddlefaddleSmile

I actually have a string color chart that came from "The Sound Post". They sell strings, instruments, music etc.

I just didn't know where to put it. See what you think of this one Oliver.

Well, that sure seems to be a comprehensive collection of silk colors but I have to test it.  My luck with I.D.'s is not very good.  Maybe now I will be able to rescue some strings and a little cash !

The situation is becoming critical Surprised.  It is harder and harder to explain to my wife why I usually need a new set of strings ( "How about all those strings you have in the shoe box !" )  Indeed, I may have 20 or 25 unidentified strings.  Can't use'm.  Can't throw them out.  Color chart(s) to the rescue (?)

You need not fret about other forum sites because you have the only one I have found that features a violin tuner with VIBRATO !  Nice touch.

LOL, the truth is that I tried very hard to create a midi tone without vibrato.
I used Finale to create the A and went into every setting to remove vibrato but was never able to solve it. Gave up and used it anyway. Glad you like it.Smile

I did put a lot of effort into it. That is my scroll BTW.
